i just remembered an ancient game a few moments ago while watching some videos on youtube xD it was called King's Field and more or less i think it would be a good idea for a texture pack since the whole game was first person view, you would attack with your right hand and walk around through mazes and ect. the colouring and details in the game werent great but it would be cool to see a texture for it, especially while making some ruins or some sort of temple type place. well please comment, hopefully someone knows about this game xD

hmm...maybe i should have put more detail, well the game was made by the same company that made demon's souls for the PS3, they also made Shadow Tower which had the same concept as king's field, i should try finding a video to post so some of you could get a better idea for it :ohmy.gif:

I can make a Kings Field texture pack for you, I have been wanting to make one for a while. The only catch is... I want to make one for King's Field the Ancient City. Let me know if you are still interested :3
It's funny that I found this thread while Googling "King's Field in Minecraft". I am actually in the middle of recreating the entire game of King's Field (that's the U.S. King's Field) in Minecraft. I started about six weeks ago. So far, I have the majority of the first four areas done.
These are: Area 1: Melanat West Coast/Entrance/Pirate's Cove/Waterfall Cave Area 2: North Village/South Village/Small Mine/Barracks Area 3: Central Village/Termite's Nest/Harvine's Castle Exterior Area 4: East Village/Melanat East Coast/Leon's House I have just a little more to finish in that last location before starting on the Big Mine.
Now, by 'done' I mean that I have a traversible map for each area with walls but without a ceiling as of yet. This is so I can calculate and verify measurements for every room in order to make drawn hard copies of each map for future reference. The maps are also situated large distances away from each other as I had no idea how big each would be in blocks to start with. I plan to use MCEdit to place the maps in closer proximity to one another. I can't seamlessly connect them, as King's Field makes use of 'loading hallways' that provide the illusion that things connect seemlessly, when they in fact, do not. But I will place them as close as feasibly possible and make use of my own 'loading hallways', placing command blocks that will teleport the player(s) to a replica of the same hallway nearby so they can continue with almost no interruption.
I plan to do some sort of texture pack to go along with this, but the full extent of what I want to change I am not sure yet. I may not even change any blocks as what is in the current 1.6 preparation snapshots is proving sufficient. Carpet is especially nice, as well as the new colored Hardened Clay. Both give me a lot more options to work with. I just wish carpet wasn’t an entity, so you could place stuff directly on top of it. The map is going to be built for use in adventure mode anyways, so any texture changes would be mostly cosmetic.
Changing the already present item graphics into King's Field item graphics is actually my main concern. Things like making the Earth Herb and Antidote correspond to existing Minecraft items and functionality. Also creating items and item effects that don't have an equivalent like Bloodstone, Moonstone, Dragon Crystal and such.
I may have to increase the scale as my current scale does not allow room for any redstone in the walls. The map was originally envisioned without the need for it. I am also not sure if I want to do this as it would mean a complete reconstruction of the already finished areas. Luckily, I am creating a drawn map on grid paper as I complete each area so I do not have to go back and do all the measuring again should I desire to recreate these maps at a different scale.
If I do decide to increase the scale, I would like to include a mod I recently discovered called UgoCraft, that allows for smooth sliding and rotation of groups of blocks. This would let me create the large upward sliding doors as well as the inward and outward opening doors from the game itself. Problem is, it requires at least a little room for redstone, which I didn’t plan the map having originally. Also, as I have been doing this, I am discovering the layout of the King’s Field map itself is very compact and overlapping, so there may not be room to include the workings of things like this.
I really want to somehow make a mod to go along with this map that allows you to equip extra pieces of equipment, for instance: shields, necklaces, rings, gloves and such, as well as actually create these custom pieces of equipment. This would allow inclusion of types of equipment that are in King’s Field but not included in vanilla Minecraft.
I also want to make use of a magic mod to include some or all of the magic spells. I was thinking of using Ars Magica for this, but a custom mod that allows for the cumulative learning of the spells through crystals like in the actual game as well as an accurate MP system would be ideal. Problem is, I have no mod creation experience, so me building any of this is probably out of the question.
I also plan on making use of custom NPCs with custom skins using the Custom NPC mod. This would allow replication of actual game progression like having people that give you key items, shops with purchasable items and equipment, custom mob drops and the like.
If there are any mod creators out there that might want to assist me in designing and creating a mod that would allow me to replicate as closely as possible the King’s Field series game mechanics, UI, and other code related things, I would love to do the design and art portion of a project like that. But as of right now, I am proceeding without mods. And if I do use mods, they will be already existing ones.
Problem is, I didn't want to make the map mod dependent as every new version of Minecraft will break the map until all the mods are updated. And if a mod ever stops being updated, then the map will not be usable with subsequent Minecraft versions. I really did not want a situation like this to occur. So, I am weighing the pros and cons of this currently.
I am working on moving right now, so I had to put everything on pause. But I plan to pick it up again once I am settled in. It may be slow going though, as I am also starting school in the fall. But, I will eventually get it done. I really love these games and am considering recreating King's Field 2 and King's Field: The Ancient City if there is enough positive response to the first game's map.
