Yes i had wildgrass. But now I reinstalled everything (adding modloader, moreblockID's and betterstairs first) then i installed the bumpaft texturepack including betterlight, bettergrass and wildgrass. And till now it seems to work fine together with Wild Grass?!?!
thanks for the hint with MCEdit, i might try that, but on the otherhand i've got free diamonds now =) so i might just get the diamonds and build new stairs.
Ah, that's because you installed Wild Grass second, which then gets rid of the SmartStairs component of BetterStairs. Try placing stairs in an L shape and see if they change appearance.

I don't really know what smart stairs does, but I did what you told me (placing stairs in L shape, same hight or one higher) and nothing happend (altough i don't know what should happen). I guess I have to decide now if i want smartstairs or wildgrass?
Yes it does. You have to remember that light is still going to deplete at it's normal 1 level per block rate, even with opacity set to 0. It's the way light is calculated. Water is treated just like any normal block, not like air. Therefore even straight shots down are still going to get darker, just like going horizonally into a cave.
If you are using it in a world that has been created before adding this mod, you have to place a torch near water (you can take it back) to force Minecraft to recalculate light.
BetterStairs seems to murder MrM's BL&BG. I've added each mod I use one by one and tested after each. After installing this one*, large numbers of blocks (maybe just the dirt/grass ones, haven't explored extensively) just don't render, they stay invisible.
Yes - game simply assumes that there's no need to recalculate light level, so everything looks the same, so forcing it to do it by placing a torch almost always works.
Well I placed down ALOT of torches, and nothing happened
I guess I'll keep going at it.
I had the same problem. Just read the last posts for the next time. As Roundaround explained it's smartstairs that conflicts with wildgrass, maybe with bettergrass too. If you install the betterstairs mod before the otherones it works fine, expect that you don't have the smartstairs then because it get's overwritten. Or just don't install the smartstairs class file (bt.class).
I just want to say: Thanks a lot for helping me!!!!!
Not every modder is as polite, quick answering and helpfull as you are! (I don't want to offend the other modders. I know that you have an other life beside minecraft and that people are asking a lot of (stupid) questions)
Thank you man!!!!
At buxtahuda's post: I had the very same problem with Betterstairs, until I recognized that the bt.class file name was shared by Betterstairs and another mod.
I simply didn't install the smartstairs bt.class of Betterstairs, and my tests look fine. Look for shared class file names.
Also, I noticed a minor issue with Sandstone Stairs; they're not crafted from sandstone, but simply sand. This may be intended; I simply wished to address it.
Ok, I've posted without reading any of the posts and with very limited knowlage of installing mods. Firstly, can you/ is it possible to install the mods (Stair mod basically) on a SMP server? Also the netherrack mod isn't needed, it's MEANT to be netherrack.
Unfortunately for most mods, it's not. You can mod it all the same, but 95% of mods are coded for SSP, and SMP is coded much differently to accommodate the existence of multiple separate players. SSP treats the player specially, which means a lot of stuff isn't transferable without modification. As far as BetterStairs specifically goes, I suppose it just might work, but don't hold me accountable if your server crashes. :tongue.gif:
Lately I've been trying something like that. I was wondering if it would be possible to put a mod like Mo' Creatures on my server if everybody on the server had it installed on their own computer. Would that work or would it even make a difference?
Thanks for the update to the Sponges. Works great :smile.gif:
I wish the water didn't "disappear" then flow back in, and instead just reappear, but I have to use some bucket-fu to make the water better.
There's really not an easy way to do that, because that would require permanently storing where all the water was before each sponge placement, else sponges would turn into massive water producers.

you should make cloth stairs, one for each color
Ouchh wayy too many Block IDs, even with Shockah's MoreID's. Perhaps I'll make it as a separate addon in the future, but I definitely won't be including it in the main download.
Oh, I wanted to tell everyone I'm inheriting dougbenham's mods (with the exception of TeleportSigns - that's being done by TLUL), so you should expect to start seeing them here soon.
Secondly, I will be focusing on the mods that break saves first. This cuts down on the grand amount of mods to update, and will allow many of you (the players) to continue your saves earlier. After I update at least most of my mods, I will continue development on future mods.
I'm also sorry to announce that everything that is/was (depending when you see this) in my "Mods in Development" section of the OP is being canceled, with the exception of a select few.
I will still be doing BedSidianExtended, Cacti/ReedsUnleashed, and a component of Magnifichest. I will also be taking up LareFurnaces, FoxyFoxes v2.0, and perhaps Directional Markers, as requested by Raposa. I will be back later to go in-detail about what each will include.

Yeah, that's always been a bug that's unfixable on my side. MCEdit would have to change the way it views water.

Will this work for areas mceditted in?
*have got to get a new keyboard...

It works alright, but when I mcedit something in it changes the light levels for the chunks it edits.

I can craft them but Minecraft crashes as I try to place them I need to have my diamond stairs!

You answered.
But just white cloth stairs would be cool.
