Sounds like an interesting mod, but highly imbalanced. Having smoothstone turn into iron ingots destroys the whole rarity of iron; but that can be a good thing, if you want to play "creative". I do however like the dirt to seeds one. In my opinion, seeds are too "rare" (Well, not rare really, more a problem to keep a steady supply of), but that's maybe only because I'm no big fan of farming.
Keep it up, balance your work, and don't be held down by the lack of comments! It can be hard for a new modder to be seen in a forum filled with experienced modders, making increasingly breathtaking mods. But keep going, and I'm sure you'll make similar things in no time!
Thanks a lot for your input birjol, This was a simple request from someone that caught my eye so i decided to do it since i still didnt know how to properly use the modloader.
Im thinking of having the 9 smooth stone becoming some kind of unpure iron that you have to melt down to get the iron.
Still not sure, but i do understand its not balanced, ill do something about that, i hope :biggrin.gif:

this sand to gold thing probably should be to gold ore. But I think it's not *imbalanced* per se, just perhaps changes the exploration impetus.
Still, it's a lot of work to get that iron ore / ingot and that's fine.
With the sand it could be considered sifting for gold :smile.gif:
It's a shame we can't do some kind of apparatus that does this, i.e. something that itself requires some iron (maybe a fair amount, or gold too) therefore meaning the player has to first find the stuff before they can recycle more.
i.e. make a sifter workbench that requires
[]
and make those blocks and not bars. 18 iron + 9 gold for the chance to recycle materials? Sounds like a deal to me... (maybe throw a diamond in there? :tongue.gif:)
but im balancing out the sand one by having you find a gold nugget (new item) and using 3 of those to get 1 gold ingot
Hows that sound?

Compressed plants should make coal, and compressed coal should make diamond dust (need 9 diamond dust for a diamond shard, 9 shards for a diamond)
Hmmm....
at first i liked this, but people tend to have A LOT of coal after a while, and plants would prolly be harder to find than coal ore.
Thanks for the idea though.
actually let me do math.
243 coal = 1 diamond
sounds good to me!

Kudos for you, I think this is a good idea for a mod. As some others have said, it would be cool to have to use some sort of a custom workbench for the new recipes though, like a refinery block of some sort. And that probably requires some more work as well.

Ive been thinking about that
alas that would require a new GUI and a lot of work.
Who knows, maybe ill try it.

This, looks very good actually. *nods* Seems pretty fair. I'd say 9 diamond shards --> 1 diamond though. Diamond is supposed to be a LOT of work to get to, not just tossing extra supplies on the bench. At the moment I have a chest completely full of coal. I've stopped mining it when I find it. XD
I would suggest maybe smelting the diamond dust into diamond... something, before combining it into a diamond shard. Pressure AND Heat needed for a diamond afterall.
why not make it so that instead of sand making the gold dust, make it gravel. gravel is less common and, if you go out to the western united states, gold nuggets (well, very small ones) have been found in gravel, even to this day.

I agree with this person. Gravel for gold dust instead of sand. Sand is mostly crushed seashells and stuff like that anyways. Or something like that I think.

I like that.

Dont mean to be picky but with your current setup for diamond your numbers are a little out. You said you need 200 cobblestone and 105 coal to make a diamond. But 6 x 9 = 54 that gets ur 9 dust, then 54 x 4 = 216 for your 4 diamond shars. Your coal is 3 x 9 = 27 then its 27 x 4 = 108. Good mod btw m8 keep it up.
Im tired, dont bother me with math D:

are you going to update it so that the sand is gravel?
Very likely, but i have to wait for the mcp update so i can make it compatible.

for the iron from smooth stone, why not make it this=
for one iron ore
That doesn't make sense, the only reason that diamond making involves coal is because coal is almost pure carbon and diamond has a lot of carbon. When you apply massive amounts of pressure to coal for a long time you can get a diamond. Iron can't come from coal, so it doesn't really work.

I think he means creating a new "workbench", just for those recipes.

I'm horrible at math, but I think you need 729 Coal for 1 Diamond.
I might be wrong, though, but I think it's like this
9 Coal -> 1 Diamond Dust
9 Diamond Dust -> 1 Diamond Shard
9 Diamond Shard -> 1 Diamond
That'd make 9 * 9 * 9, which is 729.
But again, I may be completely wrong on what is "compressed coal".
Still, I like this mod. :smile.gif:
