This mod is out of date and I'm not fixing it now because I am on holiday.
Oh and I have made a new mod that adds even more stuff such as compressed... wheat, reed, coal (As seen in Carbonator), flint, gunpowder, string, cactus, ham, etc. But as I said I'm on holiday so I wont put it up yet.
Redstone Storage
This mod allows you to store redstone the same way as gold, iron/steel and diamond.
Yes, it is glowing.
To Install
1. Open minecraft.jar with a program such as 7-zip (%AppData%\Roaming\.minecraft\bin\minecraft.jar).
2. Delete the MOJANG files in the META-INF folder.
3. Copy the files downloaded from here into minecraft.jar.
4.Run minecraft.
Nice, you should make it act as a display by lighting up/turning off when redstone is applied to it (NOT acting as a redstone torch, only accepting input).
This mod would have even more win if the redstone block could carry a signal, allowing the block to act as a splitter for signals, building them into walls to carry signal through walls or up walls, through floors, etc.
this is really stupid, i mean we have chests! this will only take up more room than using a chest
No it will actually give you more space because all blocks can be stored up to 64 and that block contains 9 redstone dust. That will equal 64*9 redstone and in a large chest you have 54 places to store it in. and that will result in a total of 54*64*9 redstone dust. For you who happens to not be able to calculate that much I have the answer here: 31'104 redstone dust.
Not to mention that it creates a pretty red box to use for... Well I'm not sure what for, but I am sure that others will come up with ideas how to use it in a decorative fashion.

Holy crap, yes. That's what I've wanted for so long. I hate having crazy scaffolding going up the backs of my buildings.

Yes, but in the carbonator mod the redstone block is a gui item, this is a placeable block.
