I'm planning on building something nice and big (and tall) and I need a mod that extends the sky to the full 32M block that it is capable of, or at least to, like, 500 blocks. Anyone know about/ have a sky extender mod out there? PLEASE HELP!

Well the thing is the sky is used to calculate daylight (Read on another post) so everytime you double the height limit it will effectively half your framerate. If you are at about 27 -30 now, 13-15 is going to be unbareable.
Do you mean you want to get rid of the maximum height limit (of 128 blocks total, starting at the very bottom of the map, all the way to the highest point at which you can place blocks)? Well, you're out of luck. A few different people have looked into it, and Minecraft is *VERY* hardcoded to a specific height limit (of 128). It's not a simple fix. There's parts of the code that rely on the height limit being 128, with out it even being defined, and if it's changed, those parts get very mad, very quickly.
Yes, a change like this is possible (in software, anything is possible). However, it's not going to happen soon. Not today for certain, and there's virtually no chance it'll happen next week either. It'd be a miracle if it happened within the next month. People have been requesting this for months (use the search feature. Use Google if you have to), and it hasn't happened yet. As far as I know, the only person who has made any kind of progress at all, is "tied up" in the BiomeTerrain Mod. If you're really interested in learning more, skim through that thread. He talks about it here and there. In short, don't hold your breath. It's not happening soon, if ever. Mouser X over and out.
