There are two methods listed below. A simple method, and an advanced method. The simple method is very simple, but the advanced method allows you to switch between the default texture ( up-rezed to 128 pixels ) and Sanguine textures as well as multiple other texture packs of 128 pixel resolution with the built in texture switcher.
Instructions common to all methods listed below:
Do not install any texture pack until instructed.
Follow these instructions exactly, and in order.
The HD texture mod will not work on a patched install.
Previous saves may cause a crash depending on the mods you have installed during their use. To ensure success in patching we will start completely fresh. You can restore your options file and saves etc later once you have a functioning patched client.
BACKUP your .minecraft folder!
Rename .minecraft to .minecraft_BAK
Run Minecraft.
Wait for Minecraft to update.
Quit Minecraft.
Now we are ready to patch the client to run 128 pixel textures. You need to decide if you want to use the simple or the advanced instructions below.
Simple version:
This method results in Sanguine texture replacing the default textures and not having the option to toggle to the default look in the in-game texture switcher.
Run Xau's HD texture mod. In Xau's patcher...
choose your .minecraft.jar file in the "Output" field
Choose the Sanguine.zip texture pack, that you just downloaded, in the "Texture pack" field.
choose 128 x 128 as the size in Xau's patcher.
Tick all three "animated xyz" options.
Tick both "custom xyz" options.
Press the "Patch button" and let it complete.
Quit Xau's HD texture patcher.
You should now have a functional 128 pixel texture-capable patched client with Sanguine textures installed and ready to play.
Have fun playing Minecraft with Sanguine HD textures!
Advanced version:
This method results in the ability to switch between the default texture ( up-rezed ) and Sanguine textures as well as multiple other texture packs of 128 pixel resolution with the built in texture switcher. You cannot, however, switch between texture packs of other resolutions using the built in switcher.
Run Xau's HD texture mod. In Xau's patcher...
choose your .minecraft.jar file in the "Output" field Do not choose anything in the texture pack field.
choose 128 x 128 as the size in Xau's patcher.
Tick all three "animated xyz" options.
Tick both "custom xyz" options.
Press the "Patch button" and let it complete.
Quit Xau's HD texture patcher.
Run Minecraft. In Minecraft...
login
Select the "Mods and Texture Packs" button.
Press the "open texture pack folder" button
In Windows...
Move the downloaded Sanguine.zip file to the texturepacks folder that opened.
Return to the minecraft application.
In Minecraft...
Select Sanguine from the list of texture packs.
Press Done.
You should now have a functional 128 pixel texture-capable patched client with Sanguine textures installed and ready to play.
Have fun playing Minecraft with Sanguine HD textures!
Optional to the advanced method but stronglysuggested:
In order to see the custom water, lava and the watch you must manually add six files to your minecraft.jar.
In this optional section you will simply add the custom_x_y.png files, items.png and dial.png to the minecraft.jar file in their appropriate locations. If you know how to do this then do so, if you need detailed instructions they are below.
Open the Sanguine.zip file, that you just moved into the texturepacks folder, using WinRAR.
Open the minecraft.jar file using WinRAR.
Position the two WinRAR windows so that you can access them both easily.
In WinRAR - In the Sanguine.zip file wondow
Select the four files named in the style "custom_waterORlava_flowingORstill.png"
Drag these four files into the WinRAR-minecraft.jar window.
Confirm the copy.
Open the "gui" folder in the WinRAR-Sanguine.zip window
Open the "gui" folder in the WinRAR-minecraft.jar window
Select the items.png file in the WinRAR-Sanguine.zip/gui window.
Drag this file to the WinRAR-minecraft.jar/gui window.
Confirm the replacement.
Go up one level in both WinRAR windows.
Open the "misc" folder in the WinRAR-Sanguine.zip window
Open the "misc" folder in the WinRAR-minecraft.jar window
Select the dial.png file in the WinRAR-Sanguine.zip/misc/ window.
Drag this file to the WinRAR-minecraft.jar/misc/ window.
Confirm the replacement.
Close both WinRAR windows.
You should now have custom water, lava and watch textures; ready to play.

sorry dude. looks awesome but it just doesnt seem to be worth it with all those instructions and having to backup
1. its not that hard.
2. you dont HAVE TO back up the files. its just a precautionary measure if something goes terribly wrong. and with this type of thing we're doing here, its not that big of an issue.

so....this is a signature, right? I mean it technically is. I guess im just too lazy to make a real one.
OK, followed the instructions for the advanced option (with the recommendation for custom/animated textures) and set up my game to allow me to select from a variety of 64x64 packs that I like to use.
However, my own custom pack (which is a compilation of textures I like from some of the other packs I use, primarily Misa's) shows only the default textures when I select it. The other packs work fine, as did this pack using the previous, "simple" method.
Any idea what I've done wrong?
