Hey Cheeseyx, I wanted to start this by thanking you dearly for this. It's epic beyond beief, I can't wait to use it.
But, I need help, some parts of the instructions were kind of vague for me, so hopefully you could clear this up.
So, I have gotten into the Minecraft.jar file, made a copy and using the original copy.
I opened it with 7zip and both the Hookshot file and the Mod file.
So I just simply drag all the files of the Mod folder file into the entire .jar file or a specific file? I'm guessing just the whole .jar file, which I did.
Then for the Hookshot files where I get stuck, do I also put that im the WHOLE .jar file or a specific file inside?
Also, i'm not using ANY mods, using Win 7(Doesnt really matter past the first instruction), also if I'm not using any texture pack do I still have to edit the item.png? The way I read it it sounded like you only had to do so if you had other texture packs. Also, i'd love it if youd explain that.
Also, I deleted the META-INF file and I dont know what to do with the "item_overlay" thing, just place it in the gui folder and thats it?
If anyone is so kind as to help me through Skype to make it easier, add me:D

You are supposed to drag all the files except for items_overlay into the general .jar. What items_overlay is for is to make the hookshot visible when you make it. If you don't know how to put the items_overlay over the items.png already in the \gui\ folder, you can use the image I linked to in the first post, or the items_alt in the staff mod (you would need to rename it to items.png).

So I take ALL the files in the Mod folder and drag to the general(Minecraft).jar file and also the Hookshot file EXCEPT for the item_Overlay?
Then from there I go into the "gui" folder, but how do I overlay that with the Items.png file?
I'm really sorry for being so oblivious to this, aswell ty very much for the help, and very quick :smile.gif:
Also, now when I open Minecraft I get a black screen...hmm

I hope you get wat i mean xD ty
I have fixed the hookshot turning into a stick in the unreleased next version, but the line connecting the hookshot to the hook is messed up, and I am working to fix it.
Currently, it is supposed to freeze them permanently, but I will most likely be giving it a time limit or making it revert when they get damaged.
I was wondering, since this mod supposedly needs 303 modloader, why don't you have separate PNG files for your items that don't require you to overlay the items.png - like mod arrows or grappling hook? 303 puts all PNG pic files for arrows in ARROWS/ folder, and grappling hook pics in GRAPPLING HOOK/ folder. If you did the same, people might not have such a hard time figuring out and asking why the items don't show up after crafting them. They would just copy the class files and a folder which includes the item pics (PNGs) in there.

It only needs modloader, risugami's or 303's. If I were to switch now, I would get a lot of complaints that it wasn't working because they didn't have the correct modloader, which is why I am planning to switch to 303's at the next update that obfuscates code, so people need to download another modloader anyway.
I noticed in the staff download there is a new skin for the hookshot.
EDIT: but yet it still turns into a stick...
EDIT2: LOL the hookshot is a hookshot when using it and a dirt arrow when using the bow!
This is exactly what I was talking about, and the type of problem you avoid, having your pics in a seperate folder and given Item ID numbers different from the items already in place.
I wish i knew how to change the numbers myself or to combine mods that use the same class file, it just seems to technical for me. I've tried reading and listening to others, it just seems like certain steps are not being mentioned, like in getting from A to Z and some of the letters are left out.
