You should use hellstone for the fire staff instead of coal.

More ideas:

Ice staff: just freezes the enemy for ~.5 seconds every use, Snow block in middle
Thunder staff: Does damage, may arc to other enemies, low number of uses, Lightstone block in the middle.
Necromancy staff: summons a friendly zombie/skeleton (random!) mob that guards you, only one summoned at a time! Soul-mud in the middle.
Nature staff: grows grass on a dirt tile, sapling in the middle.

This could all help in the constant battle against ghasts in the nether.

Did you delete meta-inf? Did you install modloader first? Did you play with the downloadable client? If not, try that.

ok i deleted the meta inf and now it goes to the mojang logo the it says it crashed:

If you didn't drag in the modified particles.png the hook would be invisible.

help, i don't understand how to install the mod loader, i think i have installed hookshot, but cant tell, due to the loader, any help is appreciated :smile.gif:

Can you be specific about the problem? Does it crash minecraft? Does it make minecraft not load? Does it just not craft the items?

It crashes at the point that it says "Simulating world for a bit". And for your Hookshot, I don't know where to put the picture file, maybe a specific folder? I'm not sure. It works REALLY well though, well done for making this. It's very good, but it's your first, so I can see why 303's is further ahead of yours. Maybe you could make it able to swing? That would be cool. :biggrin.gif:

Can you post the crash report it gives?

As for swinging, I will not be adding that (even if I was able to) because this is a hookshot mod, like the hookshot from Legend of Zelda, rather than a grappling hook.

I just downloaded the Hookshot mod, 303's Mod Loader, and Risugami's Mod Loader.
I place 303's mod loader into minecraft.jar, and then placed the hookshot mod in minecraft.jar, then deleted META-INF from the minecraft.jar file.
I got a black screen when I logged in, and nothing happened.
I deleted the bin folder and re-downloaded Minecraft, then did the same process again but with Risugami's mod loader.
Mod loader first, hookshot second, then delete meta-inf.
I still got a black screen after doing everything that the instructions say to do, but it doesn't work.

I'm running Windows XP with the most recent version of Minecraft, no other mods are installed and nothing is wrong with my computer.

If you read my post, I installed 303's first, and it didn't work. Then I deleted and redownloaded minecraft.jar and THEN installed the OTHER mod loader. I didn't install both at the same time.

Die did u insert the pic of the hookshot into the Gui???? and put it as items?

I'd give you mine, but Notch doesn't like people distributing versions of the game files that are modified, let alone the entire minecraft.jar.
