Is it possible to install this on a server for multiplayer? If so, how would we go about doing it?
If the server has this mod on it, then players will be able to use it without downloading the mod.

The server files are different from the client files, so I wouldn't be able to directly place this in the server .jar to make it work. Additionally, even if I did add server support for this, you would still need the mod installed to be able to use it.
If you have no texture for the hookshot and are using the in game texture switcher, you need to install the image overlay in that too. If you are using the default texture or a texture installed over the default, you need to replace the items.png in the gui folder with the one that has the textures installed.
This dosent work for me i do all of the same things but it just freezes at the mojang screen now my version of minecraft is screwed up and is broken even after i deleted all the files from mod loader and the hookshot

When its 3 am I sometimes go in the garden and pretend I'm a walrus.
Why the infinite durability? Could you make a balanced version with durability and the same firing physics as a fishing rod? That would be awesome. :3
Actually, I had to manually make it fire straight, as well as not have durability. Personally, I wanted it to be like the hookshot from OoT. Also, if it fires in an arc, it is more likely to just pull you at a wall.
If you could make a version for putting on servers, that would be nifty-keen. Already figured everyone using it would have to have the mod themselves added in as well.
I tried making it on the server without anything installed other than on my client. The item gets made, but when i try and use it i just d/c.
Love this one, but I think crafting it needs to be slightly more involved. Maybe involve some of the steps of the grappling hook mod. Either that or make it single use only.

Balance, people. Balance.
I will be changing the crafting for the second release, but keep in mind that I am designing it how I want it, not how you think is most balanced. That's why I am not going to make it arc, and why it isn't going to have a limited durability.
Nice mod but, you need to move the man hookshot image a little down. Using 303s elemental arrows with this mod causes the bow to think that the hookshot is a dirt arrow. Mind moving the main HS image down or up a bit? It also causes it to allow me to shoot the hookshot as a dirt arrow and loose it forever.
this looks amazing so i followed the instructions to the teeth andthere was a no show in the game, whats wrong?
I did delete the meta-inf folder (there is another meta-inf folder in: jinput, lwjgl, lwjgl_util, should delete those to?
Another thing is that i have vista and when i dragged the files into the folder i was asked to either keep both files or delete the orginal files, I tried both and redownloaded minecraft in between theses two tries. Deleteing the orginal files didn't work, so when I kept both files The new ones had a (2) after the name. should i try a different mod loader?
This mod looks so cool, would really like to use it!!!
this is what im trying to figure out

i've deleted meta-inf every single time i've done the process.
do all the files go into the .jar itself, or inside one of the files INSIDE the .jar? the new items image goes into the gui file, but all the rest are into the main area of the .jar?
They are dragged into the .jar once it is open with something like winRAR, replacing some files and adding new ones.
i tried deleting the meta-inf in ALL the different ones like moosesaysmoo pointed out and the game didnt work. it did something different, but it still didnt work. this time the screen was just blank but it wasnt freezing the page like it did before

Wait, you are playing in browser? You need to use the downloadable application for mods to work. I'll add that onto the first post.

My youtube
natetauer, it is at the bottom of the first post.
First make sure minecraft is closed, then drag it into the winRAR or 7zip window with the files shown.
it's a hookshot, not a grappling hook. hookshots are never affected by gravity. And have you seen link's hookshot ever break? no.
