Tried it out. It somewhat works. Removes leaves just like it did before the update, however it doesn't always work.
I remember chopping the wood from one tree, and waited, and the leaves stayed there. This was a normal tree, btw. In SSP.

Sometimes you have to give them a little encouragement by destroying a couple connected leaf blocks. This is especially true of any leaves that were around before installing the mod.
Thanks for your work on this, it's much appreciated.
I'm currently using Ayutashi's treedrops mod with the merge of this mod and enjoying it very much.

Why were you getting your hopes up? Set a low bar, and you won't be disappointed.

**** THE PEOPLE WHO INVENTED OBFUSCATION. **** THEM WITH KNIVES.
How would I go about doing this on a mac? As putting **** in the jar screws it up. I can however make a folder in applications and put stuff there, and it works, but I can't get rid of the META-INF folder as it's in the jar. Would I just dump the jar contents into my minecraft folder in applications? Or do I have to do the very annoying minecraft.jar stuff? I wish my PC was fixed so I could do it on there...
Just one possible bug report: The algorithm does not account for the big trees you randomly get. The game generates them with leaves further than 4 blocks from a wood block. So they'll immediately start shrinking.

Are you using v2? I thought I'd solved that with the modifications to Big Tree generation.
Just have to say, awesome and thank you so much for the time spent on this. This wonderful mod has made my rampant use of wood logs, once again, a reality.
You have saved me countless hours.
Three cheers for leaves despawning once again! Hip Hip Hurrah! Hip Hip Hurrah! Hip Hip Hurrah!
Is it possible to install v2 of this without the modification to the big trees? I'm already using a tree mod and I am concerned there may be a conflict. I see that there are two class files, and based on what I know I assume one alters the tree decay algorithm and the other the big trees.

That'd be correct; fa.class is for the big trees. Excluding it won't affect the decay algorithm, but keep in mind that if your big trees have any leaves more than 4 blocks away from the trunk, those leaves may decay.
A. Excellent mod. I've been using it on my main map and it is very relieving to have something eliminate the problem of having to chop every leave block down.
B. As Notch indicated on his blog that he had to disable decay once more, an update of the mod for the new Minecraft update would be much appreciated.
At the risk of being insulted in all sorts of creative ways...
I tried using this mod with the newest version, and though it's all installed correctly, I'm just getting the black screen. That's because the mod hasn't been updated, yes?

That's right, it's still not compatible with 1.2.3, and I don't really know when (if at all) will it be since I'm not the creator of this mod (obviously).
And I don't really see why would we want to insult you - after all, you asked kindly so it's only natural to answer kindly as well.
My hope is that by tomorrow when bug update number two rolls out that we will no longer need this mod and we can stop harassing the poor author about it. :wink.gif:

Ah, thanks a ton. I only said 'at the risk...' because, in my experience, there are many people who tend to be impatient with those who aren't as learned or experienced as themselves. ^^;
saddly a little late on my world 1 the whole woods caught fire when i was cleaning up some tree mess. but i can put it to use on my other worlds
LOL! Same here! I was hacking away at some logs in a massive forest in a valley, and my stupid mouse wheel clicked one detent up, switching to my flint and steel.
*foomp*

In the mean time, I've updated the mod so it works with the latest update. I also tried to make the mod compatible with Macs, but I don't know if it was successful.
