MINECRAFT ADVANCED - V8.10
I am extremely pleased to announce that Version 8.00 of my Minecraft Advanced mod has finally been completed! This update has a ton of fixes and a few new features.
Minecraft Advanced is a sort of "mega mod" which expands the end game content of vanilla Minecraft. It adds extra functionality to many of the existing blocks and items. Here are some examples:
- Obsidian can be used to craft two entirely new tool sets, and Obsidian Crystal blocks (which is like Glass but with the same resistance and durability as Obsidian).
- New Dragon tools which are a step up from Diamond!
- Magical runes to aid you in your fight.
- Portable Workbenches for adventurous travelers!
- New frightening Sand Creepers stalk the deserts, longing for hugs!
NOW REQUIRES AUDIO MOD!
Thanks to PureSalvation for the demonstration videos!
Thanks to Hozz for the demonstration video!
Change Log V8.10
- When I was creating Version 8.00 I was testing out the Dragon Tools so I changed their recipe. This has now been fixed in Version 8.10.
Change Log V8.00
- Netherrack Tools have been added.
- You can now create Furnaces with Netherrack blocks.
- Netherrack blocks can be used as a fuel in the Furnace.
- I have fixed the bug where Obsidian Pickaxes would act like bare hands.
- The strength of Dragon Tools have been fixed. I have also decreased the amount of durability, since before it could withstand over 10,000 blocks. Now they can withstand 2561, which is 1000 more Blocks than a Diamond Pickaxe.
- Dark Tools can now withstand 500 Blocks instead of 250.
- I have fixed the bug where Baby Creepers would keep pushing the player when you tame them. Instead, they will idle a block or two behind you.
- Giant Creeper's only spawn on Hard difficulty now.
- Giant Creeper's health has been increased from 10 Hearts to 20 Hearts. They also spawn less commonly now.
- The Black Eggs launched from Fallen Drakes only spawn Netherhounds when you're on Normal or Hard difficulty. They will not spawn if you are playing on Easy.
- Baby Creepers now smile when you feed them Cake, and once you feed them 6 slices of cake they will mature into a brownish-coloured skin. After this stage, they slowly grow into a full adult. Adult Creepers are called Neutral Creepers. They do not attack the player. In future, they will attack your enemies by exploding, but they do not take damage nor do they die from it.
- I have created Netherrack Tools, which can be crafted with Netherrack Blocks and Soul Sand Ingots. You can now create Furnaces with Netherrack, and Soul Sand can be smelted into Ingots. You can use these Ingots as "sticks". These tools will have several properties. For example: Netherrack Shovels are the only shovels which can effectively collect Soul Sand (so they dig it faster than even Diamond Shovels). When I introduce Netherasps into the mod, Netherrack Axes will be the only items which can destroy a new Block called "Netherasp Hives".
- Fixed a bug where Baby Creepers wouldn't play their "Eating" sound when being fed.
- Dragon Axes now break Leave Blocks VERY fast.
- Dragon Swords have returned to their previous state where they could do 10 hearts of damage (killing all Vanilla mobs in one hit).
- Obsidian Pickaxes can now mine Obsidian Blocks.
- Fixed a bug where Dragon Shovels and Obsidian Shovels wouldn't pickup Snowballs when mining Snow blocks.
- Fixed the Baby Creepers size so that it is the correct scale.
Change Log V7.00
- Ghasts no longer drop Sulfur.
- Obsidian Crystal transparency has been fixed, and now has a new texture (thanks to Hozz for the texture!)
- Fallen Drake and Netherhound mobs added.
- Baby Creepers and Giant Creepers added to Prefix Mobs.
- You can now cut Cake into three stackable slices by placing one in your crafting bench.
- Ghasts now drop Explosive Gel, which is basically throwable TNT.
- I would also like to thank Drupal for the Netherhound texture, and Hozz for the Fallen Drake texture. Big thanks!
- NOW REQUIRES AUDIO MOD!
Thanks for the support guys, and enjoy!

Essential Advanced Addons
If you are you downloading the mod in separate parts, and not the entire package found above, this download is ESSENTIAL to the Minecraft Advanced mod. You must use this in order for the mod to work, or else, your game will crash. It has all the essential tools, items and mobs to use the other mods.
Obsidian Chunks are used to create Obsidian Tools which have infinite durability. This comes at a cost, however, as the Obsidian Tools only have the strength of Stone tools.
Hammer
Hammers are used to combine two relatively common items together to create one extremely powerful one. In future updates, Hammers will be used in Redstone Anvils to combine two items together, and they will have the durability of 8 uses.
Blank Rune
Blank Runes are used to create a variety of Unique Runes with powerful abilities.
Dark Ingot
Dark Ingots are use to create Obsidian Rods and Dark Tools. With Obsidian Rods, you can create both Dragon & Obsidian tool sets.
Dragon Ingot
Dragon Ingots are used to create Dragon Tools, which are more powerful than Diamond. You can gain Dragon Scales by killing Ghasts.
Obsidian Rod
Obsidian Rods are used to create both Dragon Tools and Obsidian Tools.
Sliced Cake
You can now cut your Cake into three stackable slices. These slices heal three hearts each, and can be fed to Baby Creepers to tame them!
Explosive Gel
Explosive Gel is a new powerful item. Ghasts no longer drop Sulfur like they originally do, and instead drop three Explosive Gel's. This new item is basically a "throwable" TNT, with a fairly destructive explosion radius. Ghasts do not have a random chance to drop Explosive Gel; they will always drop three of them.
New Mobs:
Fallen Drake
Thanks to Hozz for the Fallen Drake texture!
The Fallen Drake is the biggest change to the mod so far. These mighty creatures dwell in the harsh lands of the Nether, and they are the "haunted souls" of dead Dragons. The Fallen Drake is considered the Ghast's older brother, both in power and intimidating looks. Their attack alone is significantly much more powerful than the Ghast; the Fallen Drake launches deadly Black Eggs at the player, with each fiery explosion potentially spawning a dangerous Netherhound. The Fallen Drake drops rare Dragon Scales which can be used to craft Dragon items.
Netherhound
Thanks to drupal for the Netherhound texture!
These dangerous hounds of the Nether are rare to come by, as they do not spawn naturally into the world. Netherhounds are freshly hatched from the Black Eggs of Fallen Drakes. These Black Eggs are launched at the player, creating fiery explosions and craters. Some of these eggs hatch successfully upon collision, spawning a deadly Netherhound. Although they are very dangerous to the player, the Netherhounds drop up to 2 Golden Ingots upon death.
Netherrack Tools
These Netherrack Tools were created with one sole purpose: Surviving the Nether. You can create them with both Netherrack and Soul Sand, giving them a bit more use in the world of Minecraft. These tools have the same strength as Stone tools, however, some of them have special abilities. Here are the current special abilities:
- Netherrack Shovels mine through Soul Sand EXTREMELY fast, faster than any other shovel in the game.
These Obsidian Items are created with Obsidian Chunks. They have infinite durability but the strength of stone. Thanks to jadaytime for the pickaxes fix!
These Dragon Items are created with Dragon Ingots and, in context with the tools, Obsidian Rods. They are a step up from Diamond tools. Thanks to jadaytime for the pickaxes fix!
Red Runes are stackable healing items which heal for 2 hearts.
Green Rune
Green Runes are stackable healing items which heal for 2 hearts.
Yellow Rune
Yellow Runes are stackable healing items which heal for 2 hearts.
Cobblestone Rune
Cobblestone Runes can be thrown to spawn Cobblestone Blocks.
Fire Rune
Fire Runes are alternative smelting items which has a smelting durability of between Coal and Lava Buckets.
Lava Rune
When thrown, a Lava Rune spawns lava at the thrown location.
Gold Rune
When right clicked, Golden Runes can summon a random item. While you could get lucky and retrieve a Diamond, you could get unlucky and get a flower.
Obsidian Crystal
Obsidian Crystal blocks are crafted with Obsidian Chunks, Hammers, and Glass. They have the same properties as Glass but have the resistance and durability of Obsidian.
Sand Creepers inhabit desolate, sandy areas and are very hard to distinguish. Be aware.
Snow Creeper
Thanks to snapester for this screenshot
Snow Creepers can be found in freezing, cold tundras. You may think your little dirt house will protect you from the cold temperatures, but you can't avoid the impending doom when that flash of white jumps from the side and SsSss... *BOOM*!
Giant Creeper
Giant Creepers are the deadliest creatures in this mod. They are five times the size of a normal Creeper and its explosion radius is extremely catastrophic. These devilish beasts bare red skin with scarlet glowing eyes, and drop blocks of Iron. Although they only spawn on Hard difficulty, they are still very rare to come by. Be wary of these terrifying monsters!
Baby Creeper
Unlike their elder counterparts, Baby Creepers are not hostile towards the player and even though they are considered a type of Creeper, they will not retaliate when attacked. Upon death, it will create a mini-explosion with a very small amount of external damage. These cute creatures can also be fed cake slices which will make it follow you as your own Baby Creeper pet. NOTE: You must feed them with Cake Slices by left clicking, you cannot right click or else that will make your character eat them, not the Baby Creeper.
Neutral Creeper
Once you feed a Baby Creeper 6 slices of cake, they will mature into a brownish-coloured skin. Along with this, they grow into an "Adult Creeper". Adult Creepers are called Neutral Creepers. They do not attack the player. In future, they will attack your enemies by exploding, but they do not take damage nor do they die from it.

Very nice, i like seeing mods that add new items or new functionality to existing items.
Unfortunately i've still never seen or even heard a Slime after 100s of hours of mining and spelunking.
I plan to increase the spawn rate of Slimes a tiny bit, but they are still going to be pretty rare since I want Slime bombs to be something to look forward to or something really anticipated.
You could do away with obsidian 'dust' completely if you made the obsidian-iron alloy craftable with an obsidian bar and an iron bar. That would seem much more practical to me.

This is very true, and I'm glad you brought it up.
The reason I'm keeping Obsidian Dust is because after the first version has been released I plan to make Obsidian Dust placeable like Redstone Dust. You can also make Obsidian Torches. However, Obsidian Dust can ONLY control Nether Portals. You can still use levers, pressure plates, etc but it's only function is turning the Portal on or off.
Also, with Obsidian Dust you will be able to craft Dark Crystal Glass, which is basically a slightly purple tinted glass but it has the same resistance to tools and explosions as Obsidian Blocks do. I believe this will be extremely useful in the Nether realm against creatures such as the Ghast.
EDIT 2: I'm actually considering removing Obsidian Dust... After thinking about it, it seems useless when I can simply allow Redstone Dust to control Portals. I'll think about it.
You shouldn't make the obsidian tools infinite. Probably just have 512 uses. This is between Steel and Diamond.
Any tools, that is infinite is OP, in ANY way.
What if I made Obsidian have slightly better power than Stone tools but it was still infinite? That would mean that it cannot mine Gold, Redstone Ore or Diamond. It would also be fairly slow.
I definitely want a balanced mod, and I understand your concerns, so please keep posting feedback.

And why would portals need to be turned on and off? Unless they acted as mob spawners! :biggrin.gif: Maybe make mob spawners affected by redstone too! But back on topic - obsidian dust seems superfluous. Obsidian torches could be cool if they produced negative light and were toggleable by redstone? Still these could be made with obsidian blocks and sticks, giving 4 obsidian torches.

I like the tinted glass idea, but this could be made with obsidian+glass or obsidian ingot+glass. Also it would SUCK to have to break obsidian strength glass when you misplaced it.

IMO, definitely a better plan. Obsidian dust seems like making the player jump through hoops for little reward. Kinda like making bookshelves currently in SP :tongue.gif:

Portals can actually spawn Ghasts in rare occasions, plus I've always wanted to be able to turn it off or on via a lever. It just adds to the coolness factor of Portals. I love the negative light idea, definitely going to explore it.

Again, these are all ideas that I plan to make. Just after posting that I thought the exact same thing. Since Steel Blocks are completely resistant to Ghast fire balls, I'll make the Dark Crystal Glass have the exact same resistance.
IMO, definitely a better plan. Obsidian dust seems like making the player jump through hoops for little reward. Kinda like making bookshelves currently in SP :tongue.gif:
I did it on purpose so that it would make having infinite tools more balanced. However, I'm still figuring things out. Everything is just in its conceptual stage, and even though I've coded everything for the first release, I can still change things for the second.
The reason I'm holding back on release is because I'm having some bugs with recompiling, so I'm just going to have to wait for a few days.
this is freaking cool! i wish it was released even though your not completed yet.....
like doing versions and stuff
and concerning dragon scales
how will you make them spawn on dungeon chest...
and will there be another way to get dragon scales??
and btw
have a man sandwich
Thanks for your support.
Dragon Scales will be rare items INSIDE the chests (like pig saddles). You just have to make a basic change in the .class file which specifies which items have a chance of being contained in Dungeon Chests.
Considering that Dragon tools are the most powerful items in the game, I won't be making another way to gain Dragon Scales unless I figure out how to create new mobs (Dragons, anyone?)
Because of the balance issues people have addressed, I have changed the durability of Obsidian Tools to withstand 2500 blocks. While it still has the best durability in the game, it is not infinite which in my opinion is way more balanced.
oh obsidian tools are like steel tools right? why cant you make obsidian tools like steel tools but still mine obsidian a little bit faster than diamond pick... i think that would balance it more
oh obsidian tools are like steel tools right? why cant you make obsidian tools like steel tools but still mine obsidian a little bit faster than diamond pick... i think that would balance it more
Nah, if I did that then the only thing people would mine is Obsidian (with 2500 block durability you wouldn't even need Diamond anymore, just get Obsidian and you'd be set). Dragon Pickaxes, however, will be able to mine Obsidian 2x faster than a Diamond Pick, so you can use that.
This is probably one of the most promising mods I've seen so far.
Also would it be possible to make blocks which force the player to jump when walked upon, or even allow the player to jump higher/rebound off of and negate fall damage? I was thinking that being able to craft 9 slime balls into 1 bouncy slime block would be a really cool and appropriate idea.
Why? They're borderline impervious to TNT and take an absurd amount of time to mine even with diamond, which is the only thing that can even mine it without destroying it.
Works with 1.2_02!

Would you actually be making the mod or just giving me ideas to expand my mod?
this is freaking cool! i wish it was released even though your not completed yet.....
like doing versions and stuff
and concerning dragon scales
how will you make them spawn on dungeon chest...
and will there be another way to get dragon scales??
and btw
have a man sandwich
Thanks for your support.
Dragon Scales will be rare items INSIDE the chests (like pig saddles). You just have to make a basic change in the .class file which specifies which items have a chance of being contained in Dungeon Chests.
Considering that Dragon tools are the most powerful items in the game, I won't be making another way to gain Dragon Scales unless I figure out how to create new mobs (Dragons, anyone?)
Thanks again for all your feedback!
Also would it be possible to make blocks which force the player to jump when walked upon, or even allow the player to jump higher/rebound off of and negate fall damage? I was thinking that being able to craft 9 slime balls into 1 bouncy slime block would be a really cool and appropriate idea.
I would like, stop even though it could be cool
besides minecraft would be no fun if I couldn't eat pork once in a while.
