indeed there is. The file is ps.class, was going to patch it myself since I really want to play with marble, but I am not giving up my big biomes and biome specific trees, or the alternate more challenging ore distribution.

Just add a folder name “MCPatches” to your ~/Documents/ folder.
Open inside AppleScript Editor for gritty details.
If you want to fix it yourself, reference my source code on page 2. My changes to that file were pretty limited -- just a couple for loops, right after all the ore deposits are added (I didn't want marble wiping out ore!)
Alternatively, I'll see about a merge when I get home in a couple hours.
(Just to be sure -- It's this mod we're talking about right?)
I love this mod, and I'd really like to use it but the problem is... It doesn't fit with the texture pack I'm using at all.
Would there be a way to get it to work with a 32x32 texture pack if I got someone to give them new skins? I know everything about texture packs, but little-to-nothing about mods.
In my tests, it works okay with HD texture packs -- you just have to put the marble textures in the right spot in the terrain.png file. You can either stretch or tile the existing textures; just make sure they're in the right place and the right size.
For some texture packs, the marble tiles stomp on tiles the pack is using. Sorry about that. There was a request to see if I can get the marble blocks to draw textures from a different file. I'll take a look and see how hard it is when I have a chance. For now, you'd just have to live with that.
I think I should be fine texture-wise then if all I have to do is put it in the right spot.
You wouldn't mind if I asked for some new textures for them would you? They look nice, but again... they just really don't fit with the texture pack I've got right now.

Be my guest. It only makes sense, since you can skin the rest of the blocks. In fact, if you post them here and I like them, I may include them in the default release.
Here's what you should keep in mind if you're changing the textures. Marble comes in three types. In order in the terrain.png, they are Dark, Red, and Light.
Marble deposits aboveground are 66% Light and 33% Dark. Marble deposits underground are 40% Dark, 40% Red, and 20% light. Also, Red marble glows a tiny bit.
So, light marble should make sense as a primarily aboveground type, and Red marble should make sense as a weird, slightly supernatural type. Notionally, like if someone turned Redstone into marble.
Oh, and what's the redstone torch thing do?
Just a merge with the "Redstone Torch Give Light" mod -- it makes redstone torches give off about as much light as normal torches. Somebody wanted to use both mods.
Well, all I'm gonna do is just a simple public request. I'll include that post, and also direct them to your thread.
Thank you though, it's nice to know people can be very lenient with their mods and textures and such.
I'm confused about Red Marble though, all I see is Dark, Light, and a Green/Blue one.

Yeowsa. That's not an easy merge, either. That ps.class is totally rewritten.
I'm not sure it would do much good for me to attempt a merge; it'd just be invalidated whenever that biome mod updates (and it appears to be an extremely active project).
I'll ask the author if he's willing to put in a hook for me. Can't promise anything, though.
Yeah, I just tried inserting your code in, and after successfully recompiling, minecraft fails. I'm sure that the author of the terrain mod could figure out why, but that version of the code is extremely different from the original, so there is probably some subtle issue that is causing failure. I will try again tomorrow to insert your code into the terrain mod, but I admire more and more people who can mod minecraft successfully, reading obfuscated code gives me a head ache.

so the "Keep marble textures 1 block wide" varient does nothing except make all the marble textures 1 block instead of multi-block and doesn't change anything else? if so, i might just have to download this and see what fun stuff i can do with it!
how long does it take to mine the stuff with the different tools?

Huh. I've looked at the cartograph source and the dev wiki and neither of those make sense with what I'm seeing in the chunk files with my hex reader.
There's some magic happening that I don't understand. Possibly some serious data compression. I'll take another look later.
Ah. Yup. They're gzipped. Missed that.
Okay, it should be doable, but I don't want to wrestle with that tonight. I'll make an effort at a conversion tool when I have some time, though.
So when I ask someone to make them, should I ask for 4 marble colours, or 3?
There are only 3 marble colors.
What I was talking about above was creating a script to turn all marble blocks into smooth stone, so a world that had previously had marble in it could be run with vanilla Minecraft. An uninstall script, if you will.

Correct. Why you'd want to do that is beyond me; it's the only unique property of marble blocks.

Marble is the next toughest material in the game after Redstone ore. (Tougher materials are obsidian and admincrete). Like other similarly tough materials, it can only be mined with an iron pickaxe or better. At a guess, it takes about 60% as long to mine as Redstone ore.
I don't know if creepers can damage it or not, but I've seen a couple try with no success.

eh, just because i think it would fit in better to the world. everything ELSE is only one block (besides pictures) so i think marble would be too. when i get more time at home this afternoon i'll try installing the thing and see if i can spot some and see how it looks. if i dont like it, no reason i cant just re-do it with the big fancy textures and see how THOSE go, right?

Bucyruss has kindly agreed to collaborate. We should have compatible versions put together this evening that won't require future merges.

I thought paint your blocks was SMP only? Did they get it working for SSP? Or did you get Marble working in SMP?
