Healing Fountain, Requires ModLoader
Adds mod_HealingFountain.class, HealingFountain.class and the folder healingFountain
The IDs this mod uses;
Healing Fountain ID: 111
Healing Water ID: 476
Textures are included (16x16 and 64x64), thanks Cybercobra. I have edited the 16x16 slightly. If you want to use the alternate textures,
copy them into the folder healingFountain, and make absolutely sure that the names match.
Healing water acts like mushroom soup, but heals 10 hearts. The healing fountain itself heals 10 hearts. The fountain also glows as much as redstone torches, to provide a mysterious/magical feel.
A world that has blocks from this mod placed somewhere in it, is unusable without this mod.
Installation
I strongly suggest that you make a backup of your worlds as well as minecraft.jar.
Easy way, only if META-INF is already deleted:
[*:2el5uza2]Copy the files HealingFountain.class, mod_HealingFountain.class, installHealingFountain.bat
and the folder healingFountain directly into the folder where you have your minecraft.jar (/bin).
[*:2el5uza2]Double click intallHealingFountain.bat
[*:2el5uza2]When done, you can remove the files you just copied into /bin.
If this doesn't work, do it the regular way.
Regular way
[*:2el5uza2]Open minecraft.jar with f.ex WinRAR, you should backup minecraft.jar first.
[*:2el5uza2]Delete the META-INF folder, if not already done.
[*:2el5uza2]Copy the .class files from the mod into minecraft.jar
[*:2el5uza2]Copy the folder healingFountain into minecraft.jar
Plans
[*:2el5uza2]Tweak the fountain. I think the cooldown needs some work.
[*:2el5uza2]Decide what should happen when the fountain breaks.
[*:2el5uza2]Maybe make the fountain spawn randomly in the world, I haven't decided on this yet. Needs more thought, will see again when modding support is added.

Carbonater, Requires ModLoader
Adds mod_Carbonater.class, Redblock.class and the folder carbonater
The IDs this mod uses
Redblock ID: 110
carbon ID: 449
Textures (16x16 and 32x32) are included. The 32x32 are made to fit with MixCraft.
Thanks to OmegaCraft for the 16x16 textures for redblock.
Tested with Risugami's new updated ModLoader.
A world that has blocks from this mod placed somewhere in it, is unusable without this mod. If you don't have this mod installed and try to open a world that contains placed redblock, Minecraft will crash. Redblock in chests are fine though, as long as you don't open the chests. Install at own risk. When Minecraft is updated, this mod will most likely stop to function properly, and then the world is unusable until this mod is updated. The blocks can be removed with software like MCEdit. Sometimes Minecraft corrupts save files. I strongly suggest to make backups of your worlds regularly.
What the mod does
[*:2el5uza2]Creates carbon out of coal. Makes it easier to store coal. 9 coal -> 1 carbon. Carbon can be used as fuel in furnaces. One carbon equals 8 coal, that means 1 carbon is enough to turn an entire stack of cobblestone into smooth stone. You use 9 coal to create 1 carbon, that means that you are "paying" 1 coal per carbon for the benefit of not having to refuel your furnaces as often as usual. You can also make torches out of carbon and logs.
[*:2el5uza2]Creates diamonds out of carbon, iron and tnt. 3 iron, 5 carbon and 1 tnt -> 1 diamond. That is a total of 45 coal, 3 iron, 4 sand and 5 gunpowder for 1 diamond.
[*:2el5uza2]Creates gunpowder out of coal and flint. 4 coal and 1 flint -> 4 gunpowder
[*:2el5uza2]Creates redblock out of redstone. Makes it easier to store redstone. 9 redstone -> 1 redblock. Redblock emits light and can be used as a building material. It also has the characteristic red smoke that come from redstone circuits. Redblock drops one redblock when destroyed.
[*:2el5uza2]Considering adding in support for charcoal, as charcoal and coal essentially are the same items.
[*:2el5uza2]I'm thinking of splitting this into two mods, one for coal/carbon, and one for redstone/redblock. Not decided.
[*:2el5uza2]Make redblock and carbon spawn in the world, if people would like this. Would be more common than diamond, but more rare than redstone. Put on hold for now. Will look into it again when modd support is added.
[*:2el5uza2]Work on what the redblock drops when destroyed, probably needs a bit more tweaking. I don't think it needs more work
[*:2el5uza2]Maybe make a carbon into a block, so it can be used as building material as well. I'm not sure if I think it is a good idea. Still not decided, I'll wait with this until modding support is added anyway.
Keep in mind that the plans are subject to change, and that I do this in my spare time, and therefore I can't work on this 24/7.

v1.5.3: Made compatible with beta 1.2_01.
v1.5.2: Beta compatibility, added tooltips.
v1.5.1: Implemented some of the functions from ModLoader, easier to handle textures. No big differences for the user. Removed the old recblock(item).
v1.5: Added a recipe for torches, made compatible with Minecraft v1.2.5
v1.4.3: Made compatible with Minecraft v1.2.5
v1.4.2: Made compatible with Minecraft v1.2.3_01
v1.4.1: Changed ID for redblock, it was causing Minecraft to crash when used with Marble(great mod, btw). Also added a flame to redblocks, it can be seen for a short time when the block is destroyed.
v1.4: Redblock is now an actual placeable block. Redblock can be used as a building material, or as a light source. It emits the same amount of light as a torch.
v1.3: Carbon is now a fuel. Carbon burns as long as 8 coal. Improved textures (both 16x16 and 32x32) a bit, and fixed items.png, for some reason I had replaced the leather helmet with carbon, that is taken care of.
v1.2: Made compatible with Minecraft v1.2.2.
v1.1: Added redblock, replaced graphite with carbon, and removed graphite. Edited recipes. Edited textures, and added 32x32 textures (made to fit MixCraft).
v1.0: Initial
I have been playing around a bit, and like some of you, I felt the carbon was a bit overkill. I have done a few changes. I have removed carbon, that is, I have replaced graphite with carbon, and graphite is removed. That way it is 9 coal -> carbon. With the removal of graphite and the modification to carbon, the diamond recipe had to be modified as well. I tried to make in such a way that almost the same materials were needed, but it got a bit cheaper. It now requires 45 coal, 3 iron and 1 tnt (4 sand, 5 gunpowder).
Also, I have added in something different. I saw a request in some other thread for this, and my plan was to implement this anyway. You can now make an item out of 9 redstones, just the same way you make carbon. This is to allow easier storage of redstone, I find it very useful. Dunno what this new item should be named, I just call it a "redblock". Redblock is not used for anything else than converting back to redstone.
The 32x32 graphics are done as well, and the look quite good, if I may say so myself. :smile.gif:
Updated for latest version of Minecraft (v1.2.2).
Thinking about trying to make carbon a fuel today. I thought maybe 1 carbon should equal 8 coal inn efficiency, for balance reasons. That way, if you choose to fill up the furnace with carbon, you won't have to fill it up as often as you would have to with coal. However, for each carbon, you are essentially "paying" 1 coal for this benefit. Is this a good idea, or should I just make it so 1 carbon equals 9 coal?

Love the mod. But here comes my constructive criticism:
Red Block looks too much like Carbon (Shape Wise). Carbon is weirdly shaded so it looks odd around everything else in the game. Red block is barely shaded so it looks odd around everything else in the game.

No worries, constructive criticism is always welcome. I assume you are talking about the 16x16 textures, right? I'm not an artist, unfortunately, and this pixel art style is new to me. I'm a tad lazy, that's why the shapes are the same. Maybe they shouldn't be, they aren't the same material after all. I'm not all that happy with the look of carbon either, however, I think the redblock looks okay. I don't know if you noticed but, I added an outline to the redblock texture in v1.3, it felt kind of dull before, looks better now IMO. I feel the shading looks more allright with the outline.
If you are interested, I used these two images as a reference, sort of; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Diamo ... phite2.jpg and http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File: ... aphite.jpg
Obviously, carbon shouldn't look like diamonds nor coal, so I settled on a graphite kind of look. Black, but still somewhat shiny. I don't think it makes sense to have carbon look like carbon fibres either, even though I think that looks cool. I'll look into it though, always interested in improving. Feel free to come with suggestions if you have any. Personally, I'm using the 32x32 textures with Mixcraft, they blend in allright there IMO.
@baizuo
Carbon can indeed be used as fuel, I added that earlier today actually. Just put it in the furnace, and smelt whatever you want. 1 carbon has the same burning power (if I can call it that) as 8 coal, so you can smelt an entire stack of cobblestone for 1 carbon.
No, redblock is not a block per se. I just called it that, because I couldn't come up with anything better. I see that the name is somewhat misleading. It is, as you said, purely an item for storage in chests. I have been thinking of making both redblock and carbon blocks instead of items, but it brings some problems. First of all, I haven't figured out how to make blocks yet. I'm able to craft a block, but at the moment I try to place it in the world, the game crashes, so something is obviously wrong. Second, I'm not sure if I want to make them blocks at all. The reason for this is that if you make some redblock- or carbon blocks and place them in your world somewhere, it would cause the game to crash if you don't have the mod installed. That could potentially render a world useless when Minecraft is updated. Then you would have to wait for me to update the mod, or use an older version of Minecraft. For now it is easier to have them as items. If you have carbon, you can store it in a chest, and as long as you don't open said chest, it doesn't matter if you have the mod installed or not. This way, you are able to use a world, even if this mod isn't updated. Did any of that make sense?
TL;DR, no, unfortunately not. It is just for storage. I have been thinking about it, but I'm not sure if I will make it into a placeable block, as it is easier to have it as an item.
Edit: typo
Edit2: The mod Paint your blocks might be interesting to you. I haven't tried it myself, but it seems to do something that you are interested in. I'm not sure if it is compatible with v1.2.2 though.
Edit3: Paint your blocks can't be used in single player, yet. :sad.gif:
I had a few ideas:
1. Red Block could do 2 things 1 it would produce light 2 it would work as a power source. (Red block being placeable of course would be needed for this.)(Add the Red "Spark" things too it)(Basically Copy the Lightstone block and do some snippits from redstone torches).
2. Carbon could be ground up and made into Carbon Dust (Irreversible) and can be used as a expensive replacement for redstone wires. (This idea is realistic because Carbon is solid and Carbon produces electricity so why shouldn't it when its ground up.)
3. Rare Find of Carbon in Nature (Mining Carbon which would drop 4 Carbon)(Found A little more often than Diamond but Still Rare)(Found in 1-4's of Blocks).
1. I like the idea of having the block emit light a lot. I don't see the need for it to work as a power source though, as regular redstone torches already do this. The red sparks is interesting as well.
2. This makes sense, but I really don't see why you would want to use the carbon dust instead of regular redstone dust though. If it is more expensive, I think it should have some features that make it worth it. Still, I'm liking the idea. It would be cool to have the more expensive carbon wires, that doesn't need to repeat the signal as often or something similar.
3. I agree, this would be very cool. Carbon would have to be rare though, as 4 carbon would equal 36 coal. That shouldn't be too easy to get. I think a little more often than diamond seems appropriate.
As of now, this is a bit beyond my knowledge of the Minecraft code, so don't expect anything like this too soon. If I were to do this, it would have to be in a while though. It's just three weeks until my exams start, so I don't have too much spare time at the moment. I'd probably prioritize the first suggestion, as that doesn't seem too hard, and I do like the idea. No promises though. :smile.gif:
Again, thanks for the input. :smile.gif:
Edit:
What are your opinions on having carbon/redblock as blocks instead of items as they are today? A world with them as blocks that are placed somewhere would not be usable without this mod.
You could always use MCEdit to remove the blocks in case of a game update. I think if you're going to call it 'redblock' then it should be like any other ore-block and have a physical block for use as well.
NOT COMPATIBLE WITH MINECRAFT BETA 1.3!
