So I was was looking at ancient Greek/Roman architecture, and thought it would be cool is there was marble in Minecraft! They would show up in BIG veins/patches and could be built with! Obviously, this could also be a suggestions, but I thought it would be kind of cool if someone could make this! ;D
I'm no good at making textures and/or coding, but maybe it could look something like this?
Anyway, Can people make whole new items? Or do they have to replace items?
Building perhaps? Maybe swords/tools, etc... TABLES? Lots of possibilities. I was thinking thought, it would basically like cobble stone but slightly better. Also 10x better looking.
True, but can someone Actually make a whole new item? I know you can make recipes and -Balm!-...
Just not items.... hmm... if you can it would prob be difficult.

Well, I've seen whole new pickaxes made, with their own recipes. Who knows?
If you want to see marble in Minecraft RIGHT NAO!, look at the Painterly Pack. The default half-blocks are marble, and it looks really good as flooring. Even uses the regular cobble*3->halfblock*3, so no code/save modding.

tbh, texture =/= real thing.
The guy above just told me he was going to make a texture, i said i wanted to see it in game.
My main goal is to get the actual marble block into minecraft
...what?
You know you can swear here... and you definitely don't need to write "balm"...
**** titties **** cock ***** ass ****** *****.
MOD EDIT: Yes, however it is inadvisable that anyone ever use racial slurs or hate speech, direct swearing at another member, or overuse swearing in general.
why is it people post requests in mapping and modding..
I don't know, but I'm glad they do. I find it to be a source of inspiration and encouragement. Sometimes I like the ideas well enough that I hope to implement them some day. Sometimes they're just cool ideas. But either way, they encourage me to research.
For example, I like this idea quite a lot, and it makes me want to figure out how to add novel blocks to the game. It's not the first time I've wanted to do that, but a fresh cool idea provides some encouragement. It's a daunting problem; it'd probably break save files, and you'd have to muck with the terrain generation algorithm, and I haven't figured out how to associate blocks with new textures yet . . . but the fact that there are cool things I could do if I could do that encourages me to try.
Marble is harder than most rock, and (depending on the composition of the Marble) as hard as or harder than Iron. Iron and Steel can hold an edge and are malleable, Marble is brittle and not at all malleable. Many types of Steel Alloy, especially those such as Tool Steel, are also harder than Marble.
16-128. Tileability not guaranteed at numerous resolutions. Nor is quality. (I obviously started at 128.)
I suggest replacing your brick texture for realism! :smile.gif: You have about 5 options for marble type.
Quick questions, I moved the marble i wanted into the terrain.png in Gimp. All I did was put it in there, and all the transparency is white. How should I go about changing it back?

The texture is what you see in-game. You want the actual block? Good luck.
Tell me how many mods you know that add an actual block in-game. Go on. Tell me.
Well, i know that the Obsidian tools Mod has the obsidian tools and obsidian bar, haven't seen a new block though. By the way, the light granite texture looks amazing! Thanks, :smile.gif:

Well, I think the bridgebuilder mod does. It sure looks like it does. I don't know if it's an actual new block or just a modified furnace, but it sure behaves like a new block.
I wanted to take it apart and see how it was done, but the download link is disabled.

Kudos to who could possibly make this!
use for marble...?

'Skins' is for player skins, and requests are here because..
Well, where else would they go?
Texture packs are also a form of modding.
That'd be nice, to see what it would look like in game. :smile.gif:
