Can somebody help me? I'm sure this has been asked and answered many times before, but I'm in a bit of a rush and I can't really read through all 60 pages of this thread. Anyway, I installed this mod as directed, but when I log in to minecraft, the screen just goes black.
usually reading just the last few pages is good enough. its not updated for beta.

Ah, that makes sense. I searched for minecraft map generators for Beta, and a thread about this mod came up, so I assumed that it worked with beta.
In that case, I have a few more things I need help with:
1. Is there any easy way to get rid of all the mod's files?
2. What's the ETA for a beta version of this mod?
3. Is there any way to get this working with the beta version of minecraft?
4. Are there any similar mods that do work with the beta version of minecraft?
I cant believe how important this mod is for me.
I just realized i havent played Minecraft AT ALL since all the beta updates that broke many mods (this one specifically).
Kinda funny (and sad) when you think about it. Just sitting around waiting for a mod to get updated.
Shows how much it adds to the game.
Then when it does get updated, Minecraft gets updated with something that isnt interesting, and it starts over again.

works fine for me. only problem i noticed the replaceGrass:Sand options seems to freeze up and crash minecraft
once i delete any replace material line it works thianks for the update ive been waiting for this
I've found that while it works in general, more extreme settings don't really do anything- The water level doesn't seem to work, neither does lava level or cave generation (cave gen. possibly in a small extent) esp. for underground lakes and lava pools.
Also, higher level fracture/etc doesn't make any floating islands, even with proper values that did so in 1.2.6 (I get *some* floating islands but nowhere near as many as I should).
Also, ores don't seem to be affected by this as well, beyond a slight amount. (I.e. I got rid of dirt, got rid of caves, upped iron deposit frequency to 100, rarity:100, size:100), did the same for redstone, gold, and Diamond, and set Coal to only appear above water level (50) and lava/water source blocks 50+; as well as lava pool max height being 1.
Oh, and min. moisture was .3, min temp .3, ice/snow threshold 0.0
This resulted in.. maybe a few less caves than normal (Cavesystem part of cave mod seems to work..set those to 0 as well), about the same amount of ores as normal, same amount of underground lakes (same size, even- further tested, setting UgL size anywhere between normal to 400+ did *nothing*), same level of lava pools and source lava/water in the air (50-128 was my min/max height settings for that), etc, etc. Oh, and I spawned in a massive desert.
Biome size seems to work decently well, though it's kind of odd in shape sometimes (to be expected) and overall the moderate settings work.
However, more extreme settings (most of the settings, actually) don't really seem to affect it in the slightest. So, yeah. If you just want to have mountains, etc, this will work for now- it's a clean file. However, if you want to go more extreme- add more ores, flat land and rare vicious mountain peaks, floating islands, caves only appearing above water level in massive amounts (hollow mountains ftw? Dangerous cave openings in Daytime? :ohmy.gif: ) and the like, this WILL NOT WORK as it is now- it still needs to be updated.
...oh, and Biome trees are really rare, too, even in their specified Biomes. Apparently the Tree mod part isn't working well- putting all settings at -20 didn't result in a tree-less world, I actually spawned in an area so dense I could barely walk around.. cacti don't seem to be affected much either.

The mod's probably not working properly because of other mods already in your .jar. I deleted my .jar and started from vanilla and then installed ONLY the unofficial beta biometerrain files. Works perfectly (almost). I then piled my other mods on top and all is well. And I like to generate WEIRD worlds.
Excuse me, but I have a question. I'm sorry if this is common knowledge or if I just missed it (I tried skimming through the 60 some-odd pages of posts).
If I create a world with this mod, can I then send the world to a friend so that they can use it? Or will they need to have the mod installed also to use the world that I generated?
Thank you!
xoxo
From what I've tried, you can generate a map and send it to another person, but when new segments of the map that are generated on the other persons computer (unless they have the same mod installed with the same biome settings) the segments will be generated as it normally would on an unmodded game
Only issue I'm having is that I haven't happened across any pine trees yet but maybe I just haven't gone far enough yet. I have gotten small bits floating but nothing large. I'm working with mostly default settings from the last release.

Hmm, i have the mod installed, yet when i run minecraft, it doesn't create the settings.ini. Neither does it do this when I make a new world. I tried manually downloading it, and placed it in the .minecraft folder. None of this has changed anything, and i keep getting the regular terrain. Anyone have any clue? Any help appreciated.

Sorry, shoulda been slightly clearer. I mean, no matter what changes i make to it, like increased volatility, or lowering sea level, nothing changes. Dunno why. I'll keep fooling around with it, mebbe i'll find out.
