I have an idea for a method of NPCs building various things, but I'm not sure if and how well it would work.
The basic idea is called the "Foundation Stone" - a 1x1x1 block that I can place, that acts similarly to a sapling. I pop it into the ground, leave for a day or two, and if conditions are right, I come back and a premade building has popped up around the area where I placed the stone.
Would it be difficult to code such a thing?

Seems very doable.
you can mod the sapling so it can be planted on a iron block, and wen its planted in a iron block, make it grown a house.
or you can mod the TNT to explode into tiny hut.
I am doing a mod that convert the sea into a big metal surface with antenas, somewhat like trantor. I will post screenshots this night.

I've seen mods that basically create new items - would it be possible to create a new version of a sapling that makes a little "under construction" sign? It would act just like a sapling, except it would build a building instead of a tree.
