An obsidian pickaxe should at least be able to mine obsidian. Imagine real life, slamming that obsidian pickaxe into obsidian and it smashes open. The strength should be above diamond pick, to make the game realistic. In real life, it would only take a few hits with the obsidian pickaxe to smash obsidian, and pretty much 1 hit to smash stone.
In real life I could smash obsidian with a steel knife :|
Obby tools do not work for me and its starting to **** me off because ive used only the obby tool mod nothing else no textures nothing and still doesnt can someone help because when i put in coal and obby black into a furnace it doesnt make the bars
Imagine real life, slamming that obsidian pickaxe into obsidian and it smashes open.
oh excuse me... i didn't knew you own real life obsidian... seriously, do you know what the real life obsidian does? If you want obsidian to be real life based, then the obsidian pick axe would be weaker than wood...
if you look the Mohs scale hardness for the different minerals, Iron is 4, Obsidian is 5.5 to 6, and Diamond is the hardest mineral at 10, so yeah, obsidian sits between Iron and Diamond, and THAT IS WHY IT CAN BE FARMED BY DIAMOND AND NOT BY IRON. As to if obsidian should be able to be farmed by obsidian pickaxes, it could be, but it would certainly take A LOT LONGER than with a diamond pickaxe.
So i only use one texture mod and that is Mixcraft. It has an item gui with better icons for obsidian tools and armors. However it dose not work with all new versions of either mod. I really like the obsidian tools and the graphic pack, its the only mods i really want, but they will not work together right now. Something about 32bit scaling maybe? Anyway if there is a way to workaround this please say so. Here is my crash info. It loads all the way until the game shows graphics and then crashes.

did you install the mod loader?... also keep note that the mods in the first post are broken, there's some links posted near the end of the thread that have fixed mods in them, although I havent tried them

Yes to mod loader, it works, and i thought the november 1.1 versions were the fixed ones but ill look back so thanks.
The paxel and fist work for me. It's just when you craft them in the crafting box, the item icon for fist or paxel appear invisble. Just click on the invisible icon and put it in your quick select inventory thing and when you switch to it, your hand disappears so that means you're probably wielding it, also if you use it the durability bar appears.
I know! But there is no alternate way to make it working?
oh no, iwannawin was lying, the solution to the mods are somewhere in the forum and you have to solve a difficult puzzle to have access to the REAL download... seriously WHAT THE F*CK DO YOU THINK!?!?!?!?
Use the previously mentioned fix by Brandon and Obsidian tools will work fine. You'll need the original files for the textures too, just overwrite the newer ones over them.

See this is what I'd like to know, how do you overwrite the original textures of the mod right now with the mixcraft versions? I've been on a quest to solve this for a week now and all my results still come back to square one.

You replace the image files with the same image files.
I didnt know this took a week to find out.
How the mod works:
it looks for "Tool.png" in "Folder"
You have tool1.png.
exchange tool.png with tool1.png (ie rename them/delete the original)

303, in an effort to help prevent both the items.png file from being overfilled and conflicts between mods due to multiple mods using up the same unused space on items.png, modified the modloader so that it now redirects requests to the location of the image file within a mod to a smaller png that contains only that single item.
That folder in the both the tools and armor mods? [Mod]->Gui->Obsidian? That contains those specific images. If you want to override those images, just replace them. If you are too busy, or lazy, to cut out the images from mixcraft's image.png and paste them to the individual images yourself, here is a link to the images. This doesn't include the diamond fist, as it was created only recently and after this separation from items.png. Therefore, mixcraft did/does not have that image.
Even if you don't take this step, using the smaller 16x16 pictures included within these mods will still work. Minecraft will just stretch them. You can even use larger ones (by a factor of 2, i.e. 64x64) and it will shrink them down.
I couldnt work out why after installing the mod I felt I NEEDED the fist to do anything, after getting an error with another mod and reinstalling everything but this mod I finally worked it out!
Why have you made the diamond pick axe sooo slow?

Thank you, see I was thinking of just replacing the images but since I'm more of a consumer to minecraft mods and less a producer, I didn't know if it was that simple. Guess it wouldn't of hurt to have tried though. lol
Remember kids, if your mod says it doesn't work in big giant red letters, its a lie and you must demand for the working mod in the most annoying and retarded way possible. =D

They dont work.
Anymore questions?
