I've seen a few posts by folks that have model importers for their MineCraft level editors but I didn't see anything specific to breaking down a 3D model to voxels, especially for sparse (low point cloud count) meshes.
Maybe someone has done this, I don't know. So I wrote a program to split a Wavefront .obj file. I think the novel addition my code adds is that the voxel tree I create slices the mesh faces directly so that if a voxel intersects a face but not that faces endpoints the face is still included. (Bounding box/Triangle intersections)
Hope it's at least a little useful. Oh and in the release folder there is a python script I kludged together to import my voxel structure using pymclevel. For testing purposes only, I have no desire to be a lazy builder. :smile.gif: I'm using it to add random underwater ruins for exploration.
