I'm running x64 Win 7 - I can't get any of these mods to work on both my home pc and my laptop. Both just give me a black screen (which will eventually turn white after a minute). I've tried everything suggested (deleting minecraft.jar, redownloading, repatching) and tried just installing one mod or another (like just better light, grass, in different combos). I'm not using any other mods.
for the life of me i can't get this blasted thing to work...
ok, here's what i got...
* fresh install of minecraft(no mods or worlds or textures no nothing)
* window vista in Admin mode (like that helps...)
here's what i want
I don't want Simple map...I perfer Zan's mod...so sue me...yes I've tried installing all 4 mods and yes I have tried to Install with and with out Zan's mod...but there simply isn't any change to minecraft that i can see...yes Zan's mod works on its own.
BetterLight practically erases the visible block edges though when in dark places. This of course has its disadvantages for building and such, but I think I might have to install this anyway!
Have you by chance found the code that does the anaglyph stereo 3d? Would it be possible to make it render the two frames using quad-buffered stereo 3d (@ 120hz)? Someone at this forum says it is possible to use quad buffer with lwjgl :smile.gif:
I'm sure Notch will do this eventually, since he now has a 3d screen (I assume it is a 120hz like so many of them are these days). Still, this is one feature that Minecraft can't have soon enough for me :smile.gif:
"The greatest pleasure is to vanquish your enemies and chase them before you, to rob them of their wealth and to see those dear to them bathed in tears, to ride their horses and to clasp to your bosom their wives and daughters." -- Ghengis Kahn
AO was awesome to start with, but BetterLight is so much better. For my Steampunk theme it is an absolute godsend! My gloomy nighttime scenes are incredibly atmospheric now, with very moody light and shadow effects. This is an amazing improvement MrM. Thank you so much for continuing the excellent work! It has made Minecraft a thing of exquisite beauty!
I only have two other essential mods (aside from the required MC Patcher by xau), one is 'DecayingFoliage' and the other is 'BreathingApparatus'. One or other of these two cause the game to stop at launch with a black screen. A bit premature of me to mention this now, before narrowing it down to one or the other, but just thought I'd mention it. BreathingApparatus is kindof necessary now for my theme, but I can do without DecayingFoliage if I have to. No way do I want to go back to AO 1.4...as great as it was!!
Sadly both 'BreathingApparatus' and ''DecayingLeaves' mods fail to work with BetterLight. If I load Breathing Apparatus and DecayingLeaves in first and then MC Patcher followed by BetterLight the game works and looks fine, but both BreathingApparatus and DecayingLeaves mods fail to work. If I load either or both of these mods after BetterLight then I get the black screen before the Mojang start screen. Both Of these mods worked perfectly with Ambient Occlusion...I'm gutted! :sad.gif:
Is there any way something could be done MrMessiah? I would be incredibly grateful. At the moment I'd have to return to AO, but it leaves me in a quandry as to how to advise people who use my texture pack, as both your mod and the breathing apparatus mod are central to the theme of Steampunk!
If it's not possible to fix BetterLight to work with the above mods, would you consider still making Ambient Occlusion 1.4 available for those who want to use these mods? Many thanks. :smile.gif:
Your logic is heavily flawed. You are telling me that the ACT of infringing copyrighted material is legal.
No, I'm telling you that until Notch claims someone is infringing his copyrighted material, and a court upholds that claim, no infringement has taken place.
In any case, this has been argued to death, and Notch hasn't taken any kind of action against anyone, so we should both stop hijacking this thread. It's completely irrelevant to MrMessiah's mods since he's changed to a patcher anyway.
For some reason I had issues with this mod if it was patched in before Xau's HD texture fix, but not if it was patched after. If done beforehand then shadows (and lit areas) are all blocky and form a gradual gradient effect away from light sources unless another block casts a deeper shadow, then shadows will be incredibly dark and stubbornly refuse to be lit by torches even if they're right next to it. If patched after then it works as intended with smooth shadows (and looks awesome by the way).
I'm not a modder and wouldn't know a piece of code from gibberish so I have no idea why it works one way and not the other. Just commenting about this in case others are having the same problem I was.
