If no one's mentioned it, the betterlighting looks AWESOME, and the only thing that seems 'too dark' about it is the edges of walls and corners. The effect is that it seems to be doing its job correctly: Fading to the light level of the block next to it.
But the blocks inside walls happen to be completely black. That's why all those lighting bugs in multiplayer end up being pitch black blocks which shouldn't be.
A simple solution would be to not fade to those 0 unless your block's light level is already 1 or something.
A more appropriate complete solution might be to check if the block above/next to/below it (parallel to fade direction) is air/liquid, and if not, fade to that block's corner instead. But that's messy, might cause more lag/issues, etc.
It's all so wonderful, though. I don't even mind.
EDIT: Wait, or is it supposed to do that? Is that part of the ambient occlusion thing? Seems kinda crazy to me. I can't use it because it makes it soo hard to tell the light level in caves, where there are a lot of edges like that, and if I put a torch in a boxed in corner it hardly even lights up at all... @.@;
Hey ho, I tried this out yesterday, following the instructions spot on, and I love it! I thought this was for windows only. Thanks man, betterlight and grass are really nice.
EDIT: Whee! I can't post this because the forums won't let me! Fun!

There seems to be a small glitch with better light concerning corner blocks and a light source behind them. If you are digging around and you might notice a lighting glitch on a inside corner of a block, it might indicate a light source behind it. Could it be a cave that you're already explored and lit with torches? Or is it lava?
This makes Digging a bit easier and less scary if you know beforehand you are about to break into something with lava behind it.
Edit: After using for a while I have two suggestions:
Make it brighter! It seems like the torches lost a lot of brightness. It's just so dark at, especially at night. Oh and I wish the mini map spun to the direction your looking. It can be difficult to use some times because you don't know what direction is what. At lease replace the red dot with a red arrow to show which way your facing.
I don't know, maybe reading the README file might give you a hint.
Anyway I can get this to install on Windows but not on a mac. I've patched the .jar successfully but it keeps coming up with a black screen after login. I looked and it seems like some others have this issue as well and there doesn't seem to be a fix. I've updated Java to the newest version and tried to overwrite the .jar manually with no luck. I've also tried deleting the version, .jar, and backup files and doing it again, but still no luck.
I had that problem too! Initially it opened with 7Zip. However, if you go to 7zip, and click on the program, than go to properties, than go to open with, than click on java, than you can run it.
I'm sticking with MC version 1.2.6 until beta gets it's modding API and the mods that I use get remade for it since some of the mods that I use extensively were not being made for Beta.

Thanks,
Yes. This is third time it's been posted in this thread.
There should be a /bin just before the /minecraft.jar part part pf that code. I hope that helps, but I can't be sure that's the error or not.

Here is a pic.
Yeah there is a bin in front, just forgot to type it. I give up installing it, waste of time trying to figure out how.

Other than that its great.

Any ideas?
It's not an official video, but it does show you how to install it.

Thanks,
You've got it in the right directory, right?
Does it spit out an error? Or what does it say in the console? Because it is nearly impossible that nothing happens.
External server browser: Created by me, made for you.Not working atm, and will not get updated in the near future, sorry.
Given you had the error:
I'd suggest putting MrMPatcher.jar into the \mods\ directory, despite the installation instructions going against that.
If that doesn't work, then I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work other than it possibly being a corrupted file, and I highly doubt it.

Thanks,
Might be a good idea for the author of this mod to archive list the older versions in the OP for ease of finding them.
