My new year's resolution is to maintain this patch. Or go into hiding. Whichever is easier.
This is a simple little mod that disables the burnout check on redstone torches, including legitimate ones. Use it if you're encountering redstone torches glitching out and extinguishing without provocation, or if you just really like flickering torches.
Does this make it so the wires will last for more than 15 blocks, or just torch-ever-lasting? Because this mod is useless to me if it's just for the lasting of torches.
This post is an excellent example of how not to write an effective reply to someone.
If you had simply left off the last sentence this would have been a straightforward, if redundant, post. By adding this final comment you pointedly state something that is only pertinent to yourself and that adds nothing to the discussion while simultaneously insulting the Mod author . Not very effective communication.
Now, if you re-read ( or perhaps just read ) the OP you'll see that it plainly states

It does not say anything at all about the redstone wire length limit.
Perhaps you could have said "Could you make it extend the length limit on redstone wire" and then the Mod author might have possibly entertained that suggestion. However, there is a technical reason why this limit exists and not just a gameplay reason. Extending the length limit for redstone wire significantly would affect performance negatively.
Thanks for the explanation Ruirize. Disregarding refactoring the data structures to a higher bit depth, what precisely is the requirement for having the wire length limit? I understand there's a functional requirement for it, but not why.
It would be difficult to simply extend the effective length of the redstone wires due to the aforementioned nibble issue. However, I don't think the length has any bearing on the actual functionality of the wire, so you could easily set the length of each wire piece to 1 and have it go on forever.
I don't have a lot of time to work on it right now, but I'll investigate a bit after the Halloween update.
Are you running this mod?
What is the configuration?
Is a lever wired to a block one block away with a torch on the block giving you this issue or is this in a complex circuit?
I'm using this mod, but even before I installed it, I had the issue, I also see the water is slow, like it takes water to spread around for 30 sec or something.
I have a couple of mods on. These are the mods I remember i installed:
redstone burnout fix (this mod)
err... that mod which makes the client stop resisting the UI or something?
I think thats all i can remember, and to answer your circuit question, I am using any circuits/I'm using the bridge mod and the red torch still takes a matter of seconds to respond, I also tried doing:
=redstone =redstone torch =lever
and still, the red torch takes seconds to turn off/on.
Help? im going crazyyyyyy
P.S. I also have alot of redstone torch and circuits around me/i have alot of power around me and i think thats why?
I was having a problem of my torches almost "bugging" out and burning out as soon as I supplied any power to them. I downloaded the fix, pasted it into the indicated folder, opened the program, and the problem was fixed immediately! Thanks for the help!!!
Can you please update this for Beta? :smile.gif: I hate the bug where the toches won't become re-lit and stays burned out forever. Especially when I've created a semi-big wiring in a room with little space!
