By the way - how about actually adding the "Tab to reply" functionality to your mod? The one that has conflicts with the other SMinMap mod? If that's not related to chat then I don't know what is. ^^

War does not determine who is right - only who is left. - Bertrand Russell fCraft.net Freebuild Official - Official server of the fCraft custom server software
Just installed it and I am already loving it. I have but a few requests:
First and foremost is add timestamps to lines. Nothing worse than stepping away for a bit only to respond to a message from when you were gone and find it was considerably out of date.
At first, I couldn't find my chat logs (chatlog.txt). After a bit of a search I found it in my "C:\Documents and Settings\[USERNAME]" folder instead of the .minecraft folder where other mods that write to the disk place their files. Think we could get the save location changed? With that in mind, how about placing the timestamp of the game session in the chat log's filename so that logs rotate instead of being overwritten/appended? ie: chatlog_05-10-2010_01-20.txt. And in that same vein, how about detecting a windows OS and putting proper newlines in the text file so that the logs are readable in notepad or other windows based text editors.
I am completely digging the two lines wrap around so that my run off text is no longer lost. But I'd like to request that it's a little more intuitive. Instead of cutting off mid-word have it move the entire word that's being cut-off to the new line. In other words, push it at the space to the new line.
I think that's it for now...
Oh yeah, if you're up to it then you could add an options file to make the chat window's font size/face customizable.
Very nice, when I get back to playing SMP I'll grab this.
Request though: I'm a user of all three main consumer operating systems. When I'm on Windows or Linux, since they use the same basic shortcut keys, there's no problem. Switching to OS X, however, which substitutes Command* (Windows calls it the Windows key and Linux calls it Super) for Control in most common shortcuts, is already jarring, but made worse when some OS X applications use Control anyway. Is there any hope of detecting a Darwin system and changing the copy and paste keybinds accordingly?
*I actually like using command instead of control, because it allows for native shortcuts to co-exist with bash utility shortcuts, I use virtual terminals running bash a lot, in all three OSes. It's just annoying switching.
Hey id just like to report a bug that recently popped up after installing this mod.... every time i type in something and hit enter it double posts what i typed. I have no idea why as this does not do this on my main computer... both systems are running xp soo. idk
Fixing up the chat log and options (plan to have customizable command shortcuts, so modifierkey+a could be set to enter /msg , for example) and for a couple of other things are my current priority. If you're using Windows wordpad will already read the new lines properly. I'll also tweak a few things to make it more convenient on different OSs.
Won't have time to work on it until Sunday, but I'll try to get some stuff done then.
Edit:
Also, I checked the new client for any updates, and there were no changes to anything related to this mod. Still works fine.
Compatibility update didn't seem to work... Now will load company logo, but still won't display menu... Might be an issue with another plugin. Using 'No Resize Gui' plugin and Zan's Minimap.
EDIT: It's the resize mod, and chance of a mod-to-mod compatibility check?
EDIT: Installed your mod, THEN resize mod! Works fine!

If you could add a 'tab to reply' thing or something similar like MrMessiah has done in his SMChat mod I would love it SO much more!
Thanks for this excellent mod!
Getting the same issue here. :[
same here, guess I'll have to wait
Still working on several requests, next update will have some real meat!
