This is my attempt at revamping all the textures in minecraft. I'm going for a less abstract look that doesn't necessarily mean realism, just smoother. I'm still considering it a work in progress and plan on modifying all textures in the game at some point, but for now is limited to the terrain.png file.
Notable Changes:
- Iron, Gold and Diamond blocks are now more stylized, making them better for decorative purposes
- Textures are less abstract in nature
- Ores are more subtle
- Redstone Dust trails are now wire
Feels very, "westerny". I can't say I like it personally due to my tastes but you did a good job. Only thing I really hated was the wood. This would be pretty good for a Western/Desert server.
For some reason I really really like this retexture. I'm not sure why, maybe it's just such a dramatic change of setting with so little deviation from the default, or maybe I just like dusty old towns. Love the cactus, by the way, and I think the wood is just fine, the only thing I'd change is the dirt texture because it doesn't tessellate very well, but otherwise I really like this!
Now I just need skeletons and zombies wearing sombreros... Hmm...
@ Flaky:
Gotcha. I just wanted to be sure because I always refer to the wood as logs, and the planks were what I thought people might be most questionable on.
@ Cetus:
I see what you mean about the dirt. I'll definantly fix it.
I find it humurous that you guys see it as western, not at all what I was going for but it works lol.
I actually rather enjoy this texture pack of sorts, I always found the standard terrain to be a tad bit too vibrant for my tastes and this tones the vibrancy down and has a great look to it. I especially like what you did with the ore blocks, more aesthetically pleasing than the originals.
Updated: Dirt and adminium have been made less repetitive, Marble (double stone step) has been completely redone.
This could have been done much sooner but I've been out of state without a computer for the last week. Theres not much more for me to do to the terrain.png. Starting to think about what I want to do with the other textures.

Thanks.
Much appreciated!
I'm only going to modify small things.

Update: I modified the clouds. Not as drastic a change as the terrain file, but I like it. I was simply tired of the boring white clouds, so I went ahead and added shadow to them. I had considered doing it at double resolution, but it got real glitchy real fast, so I stuck with the default resolution.
Not sure if anyone's modified the clouds in this way, but I haven't seen it yet. This doesn't neccesarily mean I'm original, as it could equally mean I'm a lazy searcher.

I just stumbled upon this pack and I like what i see so far.... except the dirt...has this been changed since those screen shots were posted? If so please post new ones
- New mossy cobblestone that I feel looks way better than my original edit
- New TNT block. Since multiple people have said this pack feels western to them, I went with a blackpowder keg. I know I wrote TNT on it, but I was afraid it wouldn't be instantly identified as something that goes BOOM! Could use some opinions on this.
- Changed the furnace color, as the tan was annoying me.
In addition, I added new screenshots and updated the old ones, showing off more of the textures.
Managed to get an update in, haven't had time the last two months.
- Updated wood to actually have planks, something that I probably should have done 2 months ago
- Update Ores, the background of each was darker then the smooth stone, resulting in blocks that looked out of place.
- New glass. It's completely transparent now with the exception of an iron outline, making for windows you can actually see through, without making it impossible to see where those windows are.
- New bed rock block. The new block is darker and easier to identify.
- Cleaned up a pixel in the corner of the rose
- Updated the furnace. The iron borders seemed a little off.
Notable Changes:

All critique and suggestions are welcome.
