That, and, I've been flooded with stuff that I need to work on. *>_>
I'd like to thank you all for your patience. In return, I'd like to offer you something. It's the best I can give you all, at the moment. Maybe studying it can help other texture artists with their technique. It should also be useful in case, for some reason, I can't continue the mod. Have this. You'll need PSP (preferably PSP9).
I don't know, ForOhFor Error. I don't have PSP5. You'll just have to try it. My bet, though, would be that it won't, or that if it does, some of the layer blend modes may be messed up.
I guess I'll be doing 32x32, then, in my free moments. Especially since MC seems to freeze with anything higher, now.
Today I was attempting to make the new wood. Trying to make something that looked kind of like this, I ended up with this. Can't say I'm happy with it...
True gaming connoisseurs will recognize the first pic as Clive Barker's Undying, which is one of the games that inspired TTP. I've decided that I'd like to draw a little more heavily upon it for the next version of TTP, since I don't know of any MC mods that fit the "Dark Fantasy" theme, nor has such a Baroque/Gothic* style. But I don't know... Do you guys think that such ornate stuff would be out of place in MC?
*Note: I mean actual Gothic, not "Goth". TTP isn't going to be turned all black and white with bats and vampires and outrageous hair.
I like the look of the tiles but not the monster skins so much.

The inquisitors were torturing Harry.
First, Ignatius used the rock.
Then Billy asked Harry if he wanted to read his BDSM blog. Harry was so surprised that his pants flew right off. He was wearing women's underpants. The inquisitors were wearing them, too.
Wow, somebody saying "I don't like it" is /so/ helpful - it tells me exactly how I can improve it! [/sarcasm]
Nah, you misunderstand. It's a taste thing.
I prefer the more whimsical-looking default monsters to your more realistic ones, but you probably want to keep going with a realistic style.

Okay, see? Knowing that is more useful to me. Thank you.
As I'm sure lots of you have noticed, there's a ton of mods that turn make cobblestone a kind of grey brick pattern. Thus far, I've been avoiding that trend. Do you guys think it's a good idea?

Nahh. I've always been attracted to the cobblestone look. I don't know why everybody says it's ugly :biggrin.gif:
Also, on the topic of the poll, I'd rather you go to 32x32 instead of 64x64. 64x64 just seems too.... realistic for Minecraft (Lol. Not saying that 64x64 is realistic at all.). I've gotten attached to the low-resness of Minecraft, and I think it should stay that way.
Hmm... Now that I think about it, hell, I'd be perfectly OK with 16x16 too.
I like the second one more for it's sharp and consistent shapes, though I think the rhombus/square bit looks out of place in both and tiles badly.
I'm not much for highly detailed ornate designs, but I think the style would suit Minecraft fine if it was consistent throughout.
I'd avoid anything too magical or mystical, though.
I like the current cobblestone appearance and would be unsatisfied with anything more uniform or brick-like.
Looking forward to the next version and would definitely enjoy any more previews or works in progress you could show us.
I don't know. I really liked the textures you had for metal blocks, so I think there is room to do something ornate with wood too. Not sure if I like either of the two samples though. I think it's because of the shape in the upper left corner.
I think with your wood, it is not recognizable as wood. It looks like some ornate thing, but not wood.
I'm not saying I don't like it, it just is too ornate for a simple wood building block.
I would never use something that looks that fantastically ornate to make a pickaxe. Also, does it look like a couple of planks that were just cut from a wood log? No.
My opinion is that all blocks that have some practical use for crafting (such as wood or cobblestone) should be somewhat similar to the original MC textures, and blocks that are purely for decoration (Iron Blocks, Bookcases, Steps, Stairs) can be as artistic and ornate as you wish to make them.
My reasoning for this is that if you were to chop down a tree for use in making a pickaxe or something you wouldn't be carving the wood into tiny little Tetris shapes. But when you make something like an Iron Block it serves no real practical purpose other than to look nice, and you might actually spend the time to make it ornate.
Yeah, I kinda miss using it. I was really interested in seeing what Taehl was going to do with some of the new blocks. The record player would have looked pretty cool in this style.
I've seen a few requests for this, so hopefully Taehl won't mind me putting out a temporary quick fix.
This is based on Taehl's Alpha Normal terrain.

Yeah, my program is OLD.

Which is better? First try, or second?

They realized that they were all men of the lord.

Just feeling the need for TTP...
