Hello everyone. After making my own maps for my Telesto server, I thought I'd make some for general use. As I make some new ones, every day I'll be releasing a new map until I run out. I'll release some of the more basic maps first, and as I go, I'll start releasing some of the more experimental ones. I'll be taking some requests too, but nothing too crazy. :biggrin.gif:
The link to the .dat file is the map title itself.
Here are links to zip files containing all the maps in various formats. Thanks to codewarrior who was kind enough to convert all the maps to Alpha Multi-player format.
---- Day 1: Hillside
Size: 512x512x128
The town of Hillside was my first custom map and the first map to be run on the Telesto server.
---- Day 2: Broken Islands
Size: 512x512x128
This is just a basic "difference clouds" photo shop filter map with some more sand added.
---- Day 3: Atoll
Size: 512x512x128
Warning: You'll need a good performance computer to be able to run this in indev with the current lighting engine.
---- Day 4: Fjord
Size: 512x512x128
Looks like a cold, windy place.
---- Day 5: Mars
Size: 512x512x128
Made form real mars data (not to scale).
---- Day 6: Plateaus
Size: 512x512x128
Bridge building extravaganza. This map is a more "grounded" version of floating islands.
---- Day 7: Candy Land
Size:256x256x64
A kaleidoscopic cornucopia of colourful candy.
---- Day 8: Jungle Atoll
Size: 256x256x64
Remote tropical island.
---- Day 9: Crystals
Size:512x512x128
An experiment in filters and glass.
---- Day 10: Mount Wreck
Size: 128x128x512
A tall, rocky spire where many ships meet their fate.
---- Valeria Valley
Size: 1024x512x128
Huge city map. Second map to be run on the Telesto server.
---- Modified Atoll
Size: 512x512x128
As requested by RealG. You're going to have to add your own trees.
----
The second map. This one is a fairly simple. It's basically the "difference clouds" Photoshop filter with the curves edited so theres some more sand added.
New map! This is a beautiful little atoll somewhere out in the pacific. My title image is a screenshot from this map. This map has an 'indev' ready version with all the resources, but be warned: the size of this map makes it a bit glitchy. The lighting takes forever to update and the 'clouds' are now a mist that rolls over the ocean water. Make sure you have a good computer to run this in indev.
Fjord
Size: 512x512x128
Looks like a cold, windy place.

These maps are pretty nice, how did you make them?
Mostly working with a grey-scale image in Photoshop. Then I import it into OMEN as a height-map. I have the layers in Photoshop set up so I can see where OMEN will make the land either water, sand or grass. Then I place the prefab trees by hand, layer by layer. For the roads, I export the one layer to Photoshop, draw them in (with a lot of copy and paste) then import it back.
I imagine the atoll being a very fun and challenging /indev/ map in that it would be very difficult to mine, there probably aren't a lot of resources, and above-ground space is limited.

Thanks! :biggrin.gif:
Since it's Saturday, I'll release today's map early. It's like a floating islands map but without the floating part.
Plateaus
/indev/ version
Size: 512x512x128
I have only a few more to go. Give me some ideas for new ones to make.
what about a castle fight, so a map with 2 or more castles and hills and so, around it so you can fight :smile.gif:
Ceci n'est pas une signature.
So technically I can import my face?
*Sava runs off to try it*
