Or Omen techniques...
So basically you post the way you make maps (not counting World Machine).
I would post something but I suck at Omen right now, so this could help me make awesome maps like many of you can.
Well, I do use EarthSculptor to make maps, but it usually doesn't stop there. I often have to go into Omen and make whatever edits I need to make. I don't really have a style, though. Not many maps are made without using heightmaps. (You can either export heightmaps from WM or ES or make them in Photoshop or something.)
The Meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything.
One thing i like to do is combine the layers from zomg generated maps with maps i made using omen and a height map.
the general idea is that the zomg layers serve as floating islands over my main map but you can combine any number of maps you just need the layers from your maps.
The way i do it is,
I first take the two maps and export all their layers to pngs in THIS case im exporting the layers
from the top down view.
Then i rename the layers i want from the zomg map and make a copy of them so i can
flip their naming order to make the floating islands be the same on the top and bottom.
"I use flashren to rename my files"
that sounded confusing so to help clear that part up i will explain it in better detail.
if the land features i want start on layer 37 and end on layer 128 then i would make two copys
of the layers and rename the second copys so 37 is 128 and 128 is 37
"so they are numbered in reverse"
then i rename the reverse layers to 129 and up so i have floating islands that taper off on the underside.
then because my islands end at 256 i would rename my omen hightmap layers to 257 and up.
Here is a example of a map i made using the same general idea but i exported the layers from
the side view for this one.
