One guy on a WoM server told me that making a 3d level editor would break copyrights because he said you would have to add to the .jar, he said there would be no other way. Is this for real? I hope not.
I don't see why you would have to add to the jar. Just like every other level editor, it includes minecraft-server.jar, which is perfectly legal. The level is just a bunch of bytes, the loading is the same no matter how you display it.
Maybe he was talking about having a level editor being built into the server and letting the admin view and edit the map live; that would be illegal unless you had a completely custom server.
I just want to point out that Notch doesn't allow you to distribute minecraft-server.jar. I think as long as you have them download minecraft-server.jar from the official website and just include the client code you should be fine.
I would love an easier to use editor, 3-D or otherwise. I like Omen, but I can't seem to get half the things to work that others do. I know its my usage of it and not the program itself, but perhaps an editor tooled for the under age 4 crowd might help me better.
I would like to see options such as a push/pull tool allowing you to select a circle of stone. then clicking the center and pulling/pushing a block and everything within the circle like taffy. For example click the ceiling of a cave and pulling down, thus forming a stalactite.
Ability to create a drag box around an object allowing you to move the object, copy/paste it, or delete it.
