All moderation on forums is biased. Mods and admins do play favorites. Thus there is truly no point in "playing by the rules" since enforcement of said rules is subjective. That is why I refuse to censor my speech and will call things exactly as I see them without reservation.
Green eyes and hopefully black smoke again? You sir, are awesome. It was bad enough that Endermen were so weak but then when they changed them to have sparkles and pink/purple eyes, they just became laughable. At least if they go back to how they were they'll be mildly reasonable in appearance again.
The Enderman entity class calls the portal particle specifically, so it should be simple to change that reference to the smoke particle used by the wolf.
Hope you can do the smoke for us.

EntityEnderman.java. Of course if you're working with obfuscated code, the code will look different and it may not call "portal" at all.
