Not bad ideas at all. Though there are a few things I noticed that could be added to them.
For Cockatrices, I've been told that they can also freeze you with their gaze, and their bites are poisonous(so for heart damage, it could be 1 heart, poison five seconds with minimal strength, which would take away about 2-3 more hearts; correct me if I'm wrong). I've also been informed that they are quite ravenous, and will eat just about anything all the time.
Basilisks I think can also change their shape into anything they want. For coding it wouldn't be too hard; you just tell the game that when the Basilisk wishes to change its form, it adopts the model of a target creature(and maybe the AI as well). And I thought you could also kill a Basilisk with a mirror, because they kill with their gaze. Or maybe that was a Cockatrice, I can't quite remember. I also don't know much about Greek mythology, so I can't say much about the Gorgons.
I like the wisps; it would make exploring caverns so much easier! Perhaps their can be specific colors that have a different brightness to them; for example, bright colors such as yellow would emit more light than a darker color, such as blue. Though taming them with torches does seem a bit weird. Maybe instead of torches, one could use a rarely used mineral, like redstone? It might just be me, but I always find tons of redstone and have no purpose for it. And taming wisps would be a good purpose.
Thank you for reminding me, I forgot a few things!
- The Basilisk can be killed with the Mystic Mirror, crafted in this fashion :
Glass [G]
Blaze Rod
[G][G][G]
[G][G][G]
[BR]
If you right click on the Basilisk with the mirror WHILE IT'S LOOKING AT YOU it will turn into a statue, which you can break and take as a statue to place down in your house or something.
- The reason for this is because the Basilisk CAN turn you to stone, similar to the gorgons.
- The Cockatrice cannot turn people to stone. It CAN fly and poison you, however.
- The Wisps have something similar to what you said. Their color illuminates darkness in different intensities. (From MOST to LEAST)
Yellow
Orange
Red
Violet
Green
Violet
Blue
Indigo
They also might as well do what you said, in the sense that they are tamed with colored minerals.
Red - Redstone
Orange - Gold
Yellow - Glowstone
Green - Emerald
Blue - Diamond
Indigo - Lapis Lazuli
Violet - Coal (Color exception)
- If you constantly attack ONLY the head part of the gorgon you will obtain a Gorgon Head. It is the gorgon's animated head now in your possession. By right clicking on mobs you can turn them to stone and keep them, similar to the Basilisk function. The head only has 5 uses in survival mode.
Hello please remove the cats in the mod and add Vultures please
That is kinda, well, an IDIOTIC IDEA! Vultures over Lions and Tigers? Wow my friend. There isn't Vultures? I didn't know that. Either way, the lions and stuff are too amazing to be removed!

-looks very young golden hair. wears white dress
-can be found in the bottom of the well from a village
Probably because the mod is mo' creatures, not mo' greek gods. You can probably find a mod somewhere that adds gods, butI personally don't think it's a good idea to add them to mo creatures. The fact that they would be completely overpowered is just one reason.
That's a good point. Actually, that makes me think...
The mod is great and all with the mythological and realistic creatures, and I love the new update( )!... But, what about something a bit different, yet recognizable? What I'm saying is, what about some Minecraft lore to help add some creatures that weren't already in existence through something like a movie or a book? They would fit specifically into Minecraft, and not only would it add some new, interesting creatures into the game, it would also bring more people to the mod. After all, there is already a starting point; the giant spiders, the Nether mobs, the creepers and endermen... the community could think up some neat ideas, and help add more variety to Minecraft that could be brought to life with this mod! I think it would be pretty cool, especially considering the skill that Dr. Zhark, BlockDaddy, and the others have(have you seen the wyverns?) Plus, Mojang seems to be focusing their time on fixing bugs in Minecraft and improving performance. Maybe this is the wrong place to be suggesting this, but I would like to see the opinions of the frequenters of this thread before opening up a new one dedicated to this idea.
The point of that idea is promote creativity like crazy, after all.
Hobbits
-very peaceful
-small with curved ears (not as curved as elves)
-will not attack
-small villages in plains or other flat biomes
-houses are 'hobbit-holes' like in lord of the rings
- will attack after you deal 5 hearts of damage
-they use short swords or daggers
-5% chance to drop a ring - will allow the user to become fully invisible and therfore, mobs will not attack you
Wizards
-different kinds of wizards
~chaotic wizard ~red wizard ~blue wizard ~ green wizard ~white wizard ~ and The Wizard - only one in the worlds
-will only attack if provoked (chaotic Wizard will attack no matter what)
-casts spells depending on what element they are
-large towers will spawn containing many wizards
each wizard has a small tower
-attacks using poison or a blade at it's abdomen
-will spin large webs - larger then regular webs
-found in any forest or jungle type biome
-like scorpions, some carry baby spiders which can be tamed the same way as scorpions
-will drop a vial of poison or fangs
Sphinx
-haunches of a lion
-wings of an Eagle
-face of a woman
-can maybe be a boss?
-untamable
-it will ask you a riddle (randomised) if you answer uncorrectly it will attack you
-if killed drops a variety of diamonds, iron, emerald etc
Elves
-attack using enchanted bows (poison arrows) or shortswords
-pointy ears, long hair
-maybe a small village for them in jungles
-small villages include elven queens and kings
-drops enchanted bows, short swords, nature related items
-will not attack unless provoked
Dwarves
- Attacks using axes, swords, pickaxes
-small body structure, long beards
underground villages - with dwarven kings, queens
-will not attack unless provoked
-drops axes, pickaxes, swords
can you also make the BigCats seperate - like a lion is a different mob from a tiger or leapard etc
Hobbits
-very peaceful
-small with curved ears (not as curved as elves)
-will not attack
-small villages in plains or other flat biomes
-houses are 'hobbit-holes' like in lord of the rings

i believe it is spelled Griffin

i dont really understand this, but this just brought me to this thought...
Maybe DrZhark could add a book that shows all of the animals you have seen before and when it is
recorded in the book, it will show all of the stats.
How about a Manticore: Lion with a needle-like mane and a scorpion tail. Sometimes has wings. Lives in desert hunting people. (main food source) or a Naga: Half snake, half human. can either be male of female, have a normal torso and a snake head, or can be like a mermaid and be human from chest up and snake from chest down. They would have a desert or swamp biome... Or even scorpion-men! You get the idea... (Desert Biome, half scorpion, half man/woman... Scorpion from chest down and human from chest up like a centaur, but with scorpion features, not horse features...)How about King-Kong? (city biome: would have to be a new biome) or lizard men aquatic/ swamp and/or desert biomes.Squid men?Maybe even a sphynx or druids! (druids use nature elements to shift into different animals.)

Make a Yuki-onna, a snow-ghost in Japanese legend. It's hostile, applies slowness to you, melee attacks, and its invisible UNLESS the crosshair is placed directly on it. It's a bit slow mover too.
Creature 1 - Wisps
Wisps would be small floating orbs set on fire. The colors would range in the 7 color spectrum. They are completely harmless mobs. If killed, they drop a Wisp Soul, which only changes the color of a Wisp that you have tamed. They are tamed by giving them torches.
Wisps also give off a bright light that can aid you in caves in substitution of a torch.
Creature 2 - Cockatrice
It would be a fairly large rooster with long tail feathers. The wings would start off avian and then at the tips would be dragon-like. A long spiked dragon tail comes out of the tail feathers. The Cockatrice bites to attack, or spits a green fire. The bite does 2 and a half hearts, and the fire does 4 hearts (I'm not that well on making up heart damage, so that could be decided.) When killed they drop Cockatrice Feathers. The feathers can be used to create green fire arrows. The Cockatrice cannot be tamed.
Creature 3 - Basilisk
Yes, the Cockatrice and Basilisk are sometimes the same creature, but they are two different ones in this pack.
The Basilisk would be a large snake, about as tall as an Enderman. They resemble regular snakes, except their eyes are red. They also have fish-like fins growing in the form of a cobra's hood. They each have a gem in the center of their forehead, with the different kinds being Ruby, Sapphire, Diamond, Emerald, and Amethyst. The Basilisk is quite long, and so it drags along the ground, unlike snakes who are much quicker. The end of its tail is a spike, which it uses to attack (by coiling up and stabbing it at you.) When killed they drop a Basilisk Gem. This can be used to craft a few things (which I don't know yet.)
Creature 4 - Gorgon
Similar to Greek incarnation. It would have a woman torso and serpentine body. Their hair would be a mess of moving snakes (not too long.) They would be the size of the player, and would stay mostly inside of caves. You know a gorgon is close when there are two torches in a cave near each other. There are 3 types of gorgons :
Medusa - Green in color. She carries a bow and arrow to attack with, similar to a Skeleton.
Euryale - Pale Yellow in color. She carries a sword and shield to attack with.
Stheno - Dark Red in color. She carries a spear.
All gorgons can use their primary move, which is to freeze you in stone. They do it automatically, so beware. If you look at a gorgon for too long, you start to lose hearts, and your screen slowly turns to stone. The way to fight it would be to attack it, turn away, and repeat. When killed they can drop a Gorgon's Tail. This does nothing as of now.
What do you guys think?
I like the wisps.
How about they can be like little glowing lights(like fireflies or something) until they're tamed, once they are tamed you can see them more clearly(they will have big white eyes, a ghost shape body, a head the shape of the flame on a candle and surrounded by a faint mist).
Thank you for reminding me, I forgot a few things!
