This may seem like kind of an obvious thing. But why does this mod not have an option to switch to a mode whereby the creator screen is not always available through a keybind, but rather it requires the use of an item?
That would be more useful for multiplayer servers where customisation is a reward. Further to that, it would be handy if customisations could be unlocked with items with a config file for the item and quantity required for unlocking so that the server admin can control them directly.
This is mod wasn't written for server's to control what player's do with their player customization.
And any requests to have such features, permissions, etc; added have always been denied.
Since you cannot restrict what the player sees on their client with their own mod, this is relatively pointless to begin with anyway. For example, negating the only permission available (mob models) from the player doesn't stop them from choosing to be a mob model, but it stops the mob model's data from being sent through the server to the other players.
This mod was designed for Single Player, but has been given Multiplayer capability. With the emotes, actions and the ability to see these things through servers with the Mod or Plugin installed onto them. Any control outside of limiting players becoming a random mob and running around the server, won't be added.
No restrictions of Scaling Limits, certain Body Pieces, etc; I'm afraid.
Also, I'm afraid the use of MPM for any monetary gain in anyway (pay to obtain using mob models, certain parts, etc;) is strongly dis-advised. Noppes is not a fan of the idea of MPM becoming something that users pay to use certain bits and pieces for on servers.
Even if this restriction were to be only applied to an in-game function and not for cash, as an aesthetic and "fun" mod designed to allow players to further customize outside skin texture. These things just simply won't be.
So the use of an Item to open the Edit Menu isn't in anyway ideal.

I have thought of adding a button in the inventory instead of the f12 button. I have not made a final dissision for that yet. An item it will never be, because that requires server changes and would break any bukkit plugin support.
Something else have been thinking of adding is a way to inspect players. Inspect would display some basic information about a player like armor and stuff and customizable text, which can be used for lore or a simple description of yourself.
Not sure how to do it yet though. I was thinking of either an /inspect command or maybe shift rightclicking a player with an empty hand? Anyone with a better idea?

That sounds like a cool idea. Might also include total height in blocks or something similar.

If you require aid with Custom NPC's give me a shout (In the thread, not PM's). I can read a bit of error reports, know most of the NPC workings (I'm attempting to work on scripting) and have been using it since its 1.0 version. Otherwise I'll help with any questions or problems I can.
Hi, I've had a problem that I've seen someone have on here before. It's the problem where steve's legs appear when I use things like wings and such. I've tried to reload and everything, but it does not go away... I'm not sure if it could be any of the other mods I'm using, I have a long list of them. The only thing that could come to mind is the animation api that I need for ars magica... Could that be it? And do you know if there is a way around it without taking our Ars Magica? Thank you for your help. If you want the full mod list to check just tell me.

First, what version of MPM are you running?
Secondly, is this Animaion API for Player Animations?
And yes, a full list of Mods would be best.

The Naga tail template is missing on the wiki. I click for the texture and it send me to this.
I believe the Naga Tail template is the same as the other tail's template.
Have you tried it?

Would it be possible to change model via command? for eg "/mpm model mocreatures.bird" instead of only via the gui? I want to be able to set macros or even keybinds to quickly change between preset player or mob models.
The idea of MT didn't enter my mind. What I was referring to was rewards for in-game quests and events run by admin. As for it being 'designed for single player' that clearly isn't the case as there is absolutely no benefit to having emotes, chat bubbles and even the point of customising a character that you only see yourself almost defeats the point of the mod's existence.
There are some players who only play in third person, and it is just for fun.
After all, MPM is not the only mod that changes the player appearance, many mods do in fact. MPM just only does it for fun.
And as far as emotes, chat bubbles and things of that sort, yes.. "Designed for Single Player, with a few cool features for Multiplayer thrown in."
Even still, permission nodes and things like that for models or resizing aren't going to be added. The risk for monetary gain is still there, not to mention the idea of restricting a player's customization options isn't appealing as far as Noppes is concerned. It's one of the reasons he's refused this kind of request many times now.

So with the skin url working, is great if you know about that 1.7.10 skin bug (no one has a skin for some reason) at least for lan I think.
But lan, how does it work exactly? Is there something I'm screwing up with? When one person sets a skin, everyone else has it. If another person sets it, everyone has it. If you are far away, you keep the skin, until the 2 players get close then it sets the other persons skin back to theirs.
Does anyone have any advice/solutions for this? Thank you.

I believe there was an issue with the URL feature in the 1.7 versions, atleast once upon a time. There isn't anything you or anyone else is doing wrong, it's just a bug that was never able to be fixed properly in 1.7.
I believe it may have had something to do with the way Mojang was loading skins to begin with, which made things a bit screwy when trying to change skins with the mod as well.

Hey this is just me throwing ideas out there but you know what would be perfect for this mod? A model of the "boss monsters" from undertale, you know like asgore, toriel, and asriel, and considering how popular undertale is right now I think it would be a smart move overall.

I have never once heard of undertale until now, infact I had to look it up as I thought it was some other mod that introduced new mobs to Minecraft or something.
MPM is for player model changes, it doesn't add new mob models. If there is a Mod already out there, that adds these 'boss monsters' as mobs, MPM will detect them and allow the player to use them from the entity selection menu.
Adding parts and pieces to add to the character are one thing, to provide whole new models entirely are a completely other story. The mobs you see in the entity list of MPM aren't added, they're being picked up from the client's file database and loading them in, just like the game itself does.
I don't think any 'boss monsters' from undertale or any other source are going to see addition into MPM any time soon. Sorry.
Though I'm sure in some way you can get creative with the parts that are already provided and maybe come close?

Hello! Before I ask my question, thanks a lot for this mod! It's very helpful if I want to change the way I look. It's especially hilarious when I play on a server with my friends!
So anyways, is it possible to change the name that appears when I engage in a dialog with an NPC? Like when I click an option when in a dialog it displays my actual Minecraft username. I don't know if I can do this in More Player Models or Custom NPCs but perhaps this could be a good place to ask. I've seen some youtubers in their roleplay series and their names are different in dialogs. How can I do that? Or can it never be done?

I think these are done with other modifications, generally on servers it's done with a plugin that adds player nicknames as often times mods or plugins will allow some sort of hook/check into what the player's "display name" is as opposed to their "user name" instead.
Though this sounds like it is more of a request for the NPC mod than MPM, but that's just my opinion.

Now for a limited time you can try Mirkwood for free for a month. Mirkwood is not for everyone, especially children, women who are pregnant, or may become pregnant. Side effects include: nausea, vomiting, loss of bowel control, urges to speak German at random moments, explosive radiation poisoning, mutation, itchy, watery eyes, protein denaturalization, high fever, gooifying, potty-mouth, loss of charisma, and death. You must be 18 or over to be eligible to take Mirkwood. Ask your doctor if Mirkwood is right for you.
i found out it can crash you game(bug) 1.8
"I crashed" doesn't help anyone.
Do you have an error log, what you were doing when you crashed, what happened before you crashed?
Do you have any other mods installed?
All this information is important to help you.
