Hello everyone,
I am looking for any modelers and artists who might be interested in making a Minecraft mod with me. I can handle all of the coding and implementation. I use Fabric; I don't have the time or interest to learn Forge. (If someone offers to port the mod eventually that could be arranged)
I have worked on a number of previous projects, most notably Sculk Infection, which I made essentially by myself, but I am looking to create something new.
The mod would be a Vanilla-style Nether mod, called Nether Beasts or something of the sort. It would focus on adding new mobs, plants, decorations, and features to the Nether. It would NOT be a massive overhaul mod; something more simplistic, building off of Vanilla.
The goal would be to make the Nether more dangerous due to wildlife, plants and other environmental hazards! There would be cool new rewards too. I don't have any interest in adding massive piglin castles or dungeons; I am happy to leave that to other modders. Huge structures and cities are not my forte.
Outside of bastions, piglins would be localized to new camps and scouting / hunting groups. They will no longer just randomly spawn in the woods. Adding a couple new types of piglins would be cool too!
I would like to add at least one new biome: the Wild Vines. This would be a new dense jungle biome with unique chunk-generation and massive roots stretching overhead. It would be large and very dangerous!
I don't want to change the identity of existing biomes, but add to their identity. I think that there is a lot of unrealized potential in the Nether...
One of the biggest parts of the mod would be new mobs. I don't want to flood the game with new mobs, but just add enough to make the Nether feel as full as the Overworld. The mobs would be good quality and Vanilla-style. Not overly animated, textured, or programmed.
I currently have one new mob added to the Crimson Forest: the Great Hoglin.
It is a large, alpha-like hoglin that spawns rarely. It will aggressively defend its territory of 36 blocks, but wont move beyond it. Hoglins will tend to linger within a great hoglin's territory, forming small groups. Piglins will run in fear when encountering a great hoglin. In addition to having high HP, they can eat crimson fungus to regain lost health, making them hard to kill.
This is an example of the kind of mobs I would like to add; not too complicated, but not too simple. Just something cool to spice things up in the Nether. (I haven't thought of the rewards for killing the great hoglin yet...)
My vision of the Nether is one where the danger is everywhere and you must always be on your toes. New threats keep appearing no matter where you go, but the rewards to be gained by brave adventurers are well worth the risk. I essentially want the Nether to become a true alien world!
"You're not in the Overworld anymore!"
So, if any of you happen to be talented Blockbench modelers or Minecraft texture artists, and are interested in helping this vision of the Nether come to fruition, please let me know! I have no idea how long this project would take to finish, but I think it could be a fun side project.
Thanks for reading!
