I'm trying to use a mod on a server where it's not allowed. And apparently there's a way for them to see the names of the mods I'm currently using. With that thought, is there a way for me to change the name of a mod I'm currently using? For example, using Optifine but the name that appears for them appears as Sodium.
But that was the proof I received for my ban, it looked like a print from within the game, apparently they could see the names of the mods I used, so I thought I'd try changing the name to "BetterFPS" for example.
If you are using mods like Pixelmon on a server then this means you must be playing on a modded server, and Forge sends the mods you are using (and vice-versa for the server) as they need to know if they are compatible with each other (if not then you'll fail to connect, just like trying to connect to a vanilla server with the wrong vanilla version, excepting client-side mods).
Otherwise, I don't condone trying to get around a server disallowing mods and a ban is clearly warranted - I'd say permanently for the case of intentionally trying to get around it, especially after a previous ban (this appears to be the mod you are using and I can see why it would be disallowed, just as an x-ray / entity radar mod might be).

You'd need to edit the mod's code to change its internal ID -but this does not ensure if server administrators does not suspect you are using disallowed mods.
To people who says "It is not cool to repost mods": It is greatly cool and finding it uncool is oppressive, users are free to repost. #DefectiveByDesign #AntiCopyright
I will stay in mostly 1.7.10 and sometimes 1.12.2 until all bad up(!)dates get reverted.

Server owners are technically not able to see the mods you are using
Server owners or anticheat plugins detecting mods/hacks etc. by its behavior (for example, some mods or clients sending handshake packages)
So even if you are able to rename a mod, the behavior will be the same

These mods are sending information to the server - like mentioned above, it refers to handshake packages
You have to rewrite these mods
Also do not use cracked Launchers like tLauncher - these are not supported here
Do you have a good tutorial on how to rewrite a mod like this?

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
