I'm not really sure where to put this, so let me know if this is in the wrong place.
I'm new to the modding scene. I'm familiar with java programming having taken over a year of formal education in it. I'm trying to get a modding environment set up so I can at least start making something basic, but I can't for the life of me figure out what to do. I've been working off of two different links: http://kegel.com/minecraft/ and https://mcforge.readthedocs.io/en/latest/gettingstarted/ , but they're conflicting with each other and at this point I'm fairly lost. I'm not sure how to set up my Eclipse IDE to properly house the project (part of my saying this is there are currently two errors about missing dependencies when eclipse is loaded into this workspace), I'm not sure what I need to be importing or downloading, and like I said, I'm pretty much lost on what I need to do. I've found some basic resources on how to make blocks, items, crafting recipes etc, but I can't start with that stuff until I figure out what I actually need to do to get up and running.
I would really appreciate any help, as I'd really like to get into this. Thanks to any in advance!
If you want to learn it via reading, I recommend using the forge docs, always. However, jabelar is also a great source. http://jabelarminecraft.blogspot.com/ He explains very well!
The most efficient way to setup your mod is by watching a youtube tutorial. I would like to recommend HarryTalks.
He also has a discord server where you can ask questions anytime when you're stuck.
