I am creating a mod working with the stock Iron Armor, trying to dye it into different colors. I can handle the textures, and can look that up. What I want to know is how to make one recipe work for all my dyed armors. Blue Iron Armor goes in with a Water Bucket (in this example), and comes out a normal Iron Armor.
(something like this). I want to make 'A' stand for ALL dyed iron helmets, not just the blue one. If it was just 1 dye then fine, i can do it the long way, but i want there to be multiple dye options, with there being 32 dyes, and a possibility of 3+ dye options, coming to 96+ different variations...
Would making the items 'MyArmor_Iron_Blue' (for example) and having 'MyArmor_3' be 'MyArmor_Iron' work?, like the metadata of blocks?
I think you can use the OreDictionary for this. Basically it allows you to register multiple (as many as you want) items to all act the same as an ingredient in a recipe. So you'd make the recipe take the ore dictionary ingredient and register all your other ones to the dictionary.
