I'm working on making a mod, but I can't get my item's texture to appear. Here is a link to the source code. I've been using MrCrayfish's 1.9/1.10 modding tutorials. Help?
Github is just fine. And one of the better ways to post code on this forum. Just add a few pointers like path to item/man class/place where your registered the item. So we can help out easier and faster.
Also it never hurts to add a screenshot if there is something to screenshot. Because it can tell us much more in some cases than what you say because in some cases you don't know what is the problem and you can't explain it. (1 picture is more than 1000 words)
The only issue I see is that since the new combat update with duel wielding, the "firstperson" and "thirdperson" displays have been split into left and right hand variants instead. So the new ones are "thirdperson_righthand", "thirdperson_lefthand", "firstperson_righthand", and "firstperson_lefthand".
Although I don't know why you don't just use "item/generated" as your parent. That should position a normal item correctly.
This won't be the cause of your missing textures, but will be the cause of why your item may not be translated and rotated to the way you want it to

Well these things should be included in good tutorials!
I think first, remove what your "display" section completely, and change the "parent" to 'item/generated' rather than 'builtin/generated'. This is because 'item/generated' sets some display orientations to make an item appear normally in the game like any other, and therefore means you don't have to do it yourself. If you wanted the item to appear like a tool instead like a sword, then you'd use 'item/handheld'.

We can't see your code because you uploaded what looks like the compiled form of your mod.
Do you need a .zip then? Here.

Not doing mc modding that much anymore because I am making a full blown game that does not have limitations that mc has. (rip Magiology for now)
I may come back if MC fixes it's rendering pipeline.
You don't have all of your code on there... I don't see your ModItems or Proxy classes.
GitHub immediately showed me the issue. Your item model file has compilation errors - have a look at the screenshot I've attached.
So should I delete those two red characters? I think I uploaded all the missing files.
Yeah, about GitHub, is there a quick easy way to upload folders on Linux Arch? (I'm not a root user)
Yes. Use https://www.gitkraken.com/
Edit: also you should look how json format is made.

I can't launch GitKraken. I downloaded the .tar.gz version and extracted it using the following command
Inside the folder I clicked on the gitkraken executable file and nothing happens
I edited the file. So should it look like this?
I think so... I'll re-watch the video to make sure though.

I'm new to modding -What would I change/add?-
Again, I'm new.
Thanks for your help!
If you ever figure out the reason for the missing texture I'd be happy to know!

Like this?
Yeah that looks good.
That's a problem then, it still isn't appearing... I'm going try making another mod and see I can find the problem.
