We're making our own No Man's Sky-like mod. As you may know, NMS uses procedural generation of the world, which means that every planet or landscape isn't like the other. We faced the problem that everyone in our team know nothing about world generation. So we need someone to:
Make several presets of worlds. (Mountain/Ocean/Nature planet etc.)
Set up weather conditions and mob/plants/resources spawn.
Define biome information.
Not very much to do, as we have all the preset details. The only thing we need is to make these ideas real.

I unfortunately can't join you with this, however I strongly recommend you make this mod in 1.10... Why you started in 1.7.10 is beyond me. It's very outdated at this point and later versions change some things which are much better for modding.
In the last versions of Minecraft you can put your own models through Resource packs. Due to that, Forge decided to use .obj models only for blocks and items. But we use our .obj-s for everything, so that's the main problem.
1.7.10 Is suited for modding as it is a lot more less glitchy, buggy, and is still in the top for the most favourite modded version due to the amount of mods I do know modding but I have no knowledge of world generation
