I am updating my mod to 1.8 and there is over 3200 errors in it!
And there is some things I want to discus about related to that.
1. Why is there BlockPos instead of x y z cords?! Could someone explain to me what are pros of this change? You don't need to say the cons because I know them way to good!
2. What happened to texturing engine? Where are the IIcons!? Where is anything related to it???
3. Why can't I access the RenderManager class? And how and where do I access it?
4. Why are constructors of vanilla particles private? Is the Mojang scared that someone is going to hack particles? (not such big problem because I can just extend them to another class and add a public one)
5. Why is the ForgeDirection class gone? (just wondering I know for a replacement)
6. Why are the world, player, etc Tick event's not working and every other event is working fine? (I actually had this problem in mc 1.7)
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Not doing mc modding that much anymore because I am making a full blown game that does not have limitations that mc has. (rip Magiology for now)
I may come back if MC fixes it's rendering pipeline.
BlockPos: The benefits are obvious. Together with the new EnumFacing introduced by 1.8, you can offset, rotate, and much more. It also works well together with AABBs, and some other things.
IIcons: Are gone because block models now directly specify their texture from the json files. IIcons only implementation, TextureAtlasSprite, still exists though.
RenderManager? No idea. Shouldn't need that one in the first place.
Why would Mojang care? If they are private and you really need them, ask for it on the Forge repo.
Replaced by EnumFacing, a much cleaner and complete vanilla equivalent.
Some events are not yet implemented, wait for Forge to hit a stable release or do a PR yourself.
1. Oh thanks! I didn't know that you could do that! But in my oppinion it is not worth it for the hell that is made in any position related code.
3. Yes it is needed for things like rendering player to survival GUI, for setting players view and short and simple model rendering.
4. I am not saing that mojang actually cares. Maybe they did it because it wasn't soppousted to be used outside of effectrenderer and world/spawn function so they made it private. But I have it all figured out for a fix that is probably eaven better than calling a constructor!
6. Yes I know but it is close to a finish line. I have noticed much less functions and objects that are called like this: J_jfukht_yu0085_7_! But like I mentioned I had this problem in forge 1.7.10 so I think that the blame is on me not on them. And I have seen examples of it but it is just not working!
Just wait until Forge is more fleshed out. Only advanced modders should be even thinking about updating at this time.
Nope forge is surprisingly polished out! Only thing that is obviously not finished is the comments on functions for modders! But I am more than familiar with them so it's not a big deal!
