ModLoader.addOverride() probably doesn't do anything anymore to be honest. You'll have to use the new way of registering item icons, a tutorial on it can be found here: http://www.minecraft...block-textures/
Edit: Also, why do you have a class extending your mod class that contains the load info and why are you casting Item to an Item?
The first one basically isn't anything it just has the basic coding it was a test because i tried it because i wasn't sure if it was right but it was so its still there. Its like the base for all of extensions.

Like the idea for this! (: I'm a huge whovian! Did you get it figured out?
.setUnlocalizedName is usually for items and getIndirectPowerOutput is for blocks.
Thanks the only problem is with some coding having to do with the laser screwdriver its only going to shoot lightning on right click but I will post the coding and the problems thanks!
WaterMinecraft thanks! it worked with original coding but now only one error.
Sonic.iconIndex = ModLoader.addOverride("/DoctorWho/sonic.png" , "/sonic.png");
iconIndex is the error and i have a question I have always done this
("/DoctorWho/sonic.png" , "/sonic.png"); where would i put the icon for the sonic in the first path or second but where does it start like here is the path to eclipse in mcp C:\Users\Andrita\Desktop\mcp\eclipse do i put the image in the Minecraft folder as sonic(png 16*16) or would i use the path C:\Users\Andrita\Desktop\mcp\eclipse\DoctorWho\sonic.png?
When I change the visibility for iconIndex to public ModLoader.addOverride(string string) is an error which one do i change would i fix the ModLoader code or change iconIndex to a whole different code and if yes what?

I had trouble with my mod with this too. Go into eclipse>Client>bin and create a folder in your bin folder called "textures". Go into the textures folder and make two new folders called "items" and "blocks". Put your sonic screwdriver .png file into the items folder. Now in your Eclipse, change the ".setItemName" to ".setUnlocalizedName". Your .setUnlocalizedName is what it gets its(the sonic screwdriver) texture from. Simply rename your sonic screwdriver to whatever you have in your ".setUnlocalizedName". The final thing you need to do is delete the whole line with the ModLoader. addOverride. It's no longer the code the use. Hope this helps!
With my eclipse when i installed forge (src) it didnt create a client and server just Minecraft then all the files client would have so just put it in eclipse/Minecraft/bin/textures/(items and blocks folders here!)items/DWSS(does .png need to be in the name or is just for what kind of file it is?

It's whatever your ending is. Usually it's a .png file. But I'm guessing you could use a .jpg? or jpeg?
Would you do me an awesome favor and copy and paste your registerIcons up on here? d: I've posted up a topic... but no one reply to me! d:
It didn't crash but the coding where it says
public static final Item Sonic = ((Item) new Item(666)).setUnlocalizedName("DWSS");
is the id supposed to be 666? because I can't give it to myself.

I'm pretty sure you can't set it that high. I think it has to be under 256. So just set it to like 170 or something.
add this to your public static final ".setCreativeTab(CreativeTabs.tabMaterials)" and you'll be able to find it in your Materials tab. Or you can put it in any other tab I think!
I'm actually a beginner modder as in I just started I don't know if this surprises anyone but by registerIcons you meant he picturs because once i can give myself the item (when i fix the id) I will post pics on here and the actual mod thread. http://www.minecraft...nic-client-mod/
above is the link to the thread!
I did hope this works!
Still didn't work D: tried all the tabs and the id 256 and down are taken by vanilla items,

Okay, if you need any more help, I'll get to it sometime!
I didn't see any pictures or anything for your mod. Do you have any?
Also, did you see the post I posted up earlier? I need a copy of the registerIcons class file. If you could help, that'd be awesome!
I don't know where that is and if its because you think i edited it i didn't i didn't edit anything but my files. Just tell me where i could locate it and then i could get it for you but no pictures of actual gameplay with the item because its not appearing.

No, no! haha I deleted mine by accident and I can't get it back. You modded in Eclipse right? You should just be able to open the Client and type in "r", and scroll down until you find the correct class.
And it's still not working? Are you in ModLoader? And are you working in 1.5.1?
}
Nothing has errors but the item doesn't appear is there anything wrong with the code like to where it isn't error but its useless and the wrong coding?
