I recently installed a mod that didn't require adding files to the minecraft.jar file. Instead, all i had to do was install modloader and place the mod in the "mods" folder in .minecraft folder. now, I like the mod but i want to make one change to it and i downloaded the source files from the forum post of the mod. I made the changes i wanted to make. But.. how to i implement this change now? if this was a mod that added files to minecraft.jar i know i could use mcp but this one is different. help plz!
So this needs modloader, have you decompiled with modloader? I dont know how the code works when you put it in the mods folder.
yah i have mcp setup with modloader. the thing that's different for this mod than most other mods is that you dont need to open up mincraft.jar to install it. this one, you just need to place the mod in the .mincraft\mods folder. So, when you decompile with mcp it doesnt unpack the mod
Open the zip, and put its contents into the minecraft.jar in mcp/jars. Putting a mod in the mods folder is just another feature of ModLoader. It just loads those classes from the zip in /mods to save you editing the jar. MCP only decompiles the jar and doesn't look at anything else.

i did that but when it is finished decompiling, the mod source codes do not show up in the src folder. it seems like it just totally ignored them.
Modloader automatically checks your mods folder, it isnt really that different from a .jar
use MCP to decompile, use eclipse to see errors, check the package and such, than recompile and reobfuscate.
