Since i play as a nomad for years, i figuered, i should make a vanilla friendly modpack to inspire you guys to try long distance overworld traveling.
With some features, some handicaps and tips of corse.
You will notice that that i have some world generation presets ready to choose for you.
(default world generation mod)
You should make your own choice here. Altough my personal favourite is Beta + BOP.
While the beta variants can cause some glitchy terrains. They are absolutly unpredictable, which in return creates a caotic, jet beautiful world!
Don't try to combine Lost Cities with beta plus. You could actually manage that, but it's not going to be a good looking mess. Trust me, i have seen it...
Let's start with the obvious mods wich change the game drastically:
-Tough as nails
These 2 mods work well together! You have to deal with thurst, temperature & seasons.
You will start in the chilling early-spring. Depending on the biome you spawn, you might want to get a wool armor and a campfire ASAP! The campfires can be lit by spamm-rightclicking sticks on them. If you are thursty, hold shift and rightclick to drink from watersources or the rain. (You have to look straight up to drink the rain) Spoiler:
Buckets are your best allays to overcome these problems.
The next feature is the Debug-Screen:
I removed the coordinates. If you want to know them, go get a compass!
It will also show you the cardinal directiones.
This map is better then the vanilla standart. But it won't work properly with lost cities.
Well it does what it does and it's my favourite map mod.
This item takes your chestplate armorslot. You can't put a filled backpack in your inventory.
Shift and mine it, to equip it from the ground, shift and rightclick to place it.
You can find the recipe in the jei menu. (Just enough items)
Next up is something i consider a bug fix:
-The swing through grass mod
No more fear of fighting mobs in tall grass. Go get them!
Ok, don't call this cheating. Let me explain:
If you where to climb a tall mountain, you would probably use a water bucket, right?
Well in 1.12 there was no swiming, so climbing that way took forever.
And let's be honest: gathering blocks to tower up becomes tidious after a while, doesn't it?
You don't agree? Then remove this mod on your own. (walljump)
If you want to climb tough, jump against a wall and keep pressing shift to twerk it up!
(Dont press space, otherwise you do the walljump)
While i use this mod to display the real world time, to not forget my real life, this mod comes with other cool features. Press H to customize it. You could for example let it display the minecraft days, you have survived. That way you won't lose count. Just in case you plan a "100 days as a nomad in hardcore" YT video ;-)
There are also a bunch of other mods which aren't that important to know at the very start.
Some of them add structures, some add weapons ect. No in your face stuff.
You won't encounter non-vanilla mobs. If you have read this far, you know enough to survive and discover this modpack.
Due to optifines license you have to install that one on your own, i can not include it.
I've messed a lot with the fishing loot table! You won't fish enchanted books or bows.
Instead you'll get other usefull stuff you wouldn't expect. But i won't spoil! Find out yourself, what treasures you can fish. (This modpack comes with autofish. Look up your control settings.)
This nerfs is meant to prevent you from getting powerful without exposing yourself to danger.
You can find lot's of enchanted gear and books in dungeons or simply trade them from villagers.
And that's it!
I hope this vanilla friendly modpack awakens your desire for a hardcore trip with no return.
Go pick a direction, tame a dog and become a nomad!
-Added Horse Debug Info mod (Use debug-screen to see horse stats)
-Added Mob Spawner Control mod
-Added RTG mod (Realistic Terrain Generation)
-Possibly added more mods which i don't remember (lol)
-Adjusted some configs
-Added crafting recipe for gunpowder (egg + chorcoal)
-Added Death-Counter (press tab)
There isn't much to tell about this update. You get a new world preset (Realistic) which is absolutly EPIC! I mean just look at that.
LOOK AT THAT! WHAT THE FORK MEN!!
(Structures aren't part of RTG, you are looking at a bunch of mods thrown together)
Mobspawners will now get destroyed after a certain number of mobs have spawned.
You should however destroy them asap, since the reward for destroying spawners decreases with every mob spawned.
With the implementation of craftable gunpowder you can now make full use of your elytra (which can be found in overworld as well) or craft explosive arrows on mass!
(Keep in mind that near by explosions may trigger fancy visuals due to the enhanced visuals mod )
Since i don't know what more to add, this is most likely my final update.
Let me drop you one more hint.
You can smelt most armors and tools to recycle a lot of ressources.
