On October 23rd, 2077, the world fell silent. In their desperate pursuit of dwindling resources, the global-superpowers, America and China, finally resorted to the inevitable: nuclear war. In the opening hours of the war waves of ICBM's washed over population centers and strategic targets, vaporizing billions in an instant and dooming the survivors to agonizing deaths. Of those few who managed to escape the blasts and radiation most found themselves at the mercy of a new and strange existence in one of the hundreds of vaults that had been constructed to preserve what remained of humanity.
There, nestled in the dark of the earth, cocooned and insulated from the terror and contamination of the outside world, your family eked out a modest living for generations. They once called the city of Hope, Arkansas, their home, and so it was no surprise that they reclaimed the name from the old world when the all-clear signal finally came over 200 years later. Emerging into a hostile and unfamiliar world the determined dwellers squared their shoulders and stood against the waves of horrors, mutant and human alike, to forge a new city in the shadow of their vault. New Hope City arose, brick by brick, to dominate south-eastern Arkansas through trade, and when necessary, force.
But the wasteland is as vast as it is dangerous, with many unseen threats looming just over the horizon. And war? War never changes.
