I have a concept for a type of modded Survival experience that would be relatively unique, and that I would like those interested to try out and then comment the results here.
The general concept is that the world is a beautifully dangerous world, infested with monsters that will NOT hesitate to remove you from it. From day 1, your goal is to explore the entirety, or at least a large part of, the world, setting up shelters and bases scattered across it, preparing defenses for them, and arming yourself. Upon death in this world, you will respawn at a random place a set number of blocks away from your original spawn/last spawn/death location. This means that in order to live efficiently, you need to be prepared to have a place to go and seek shelter nearby any potential place you may respawn, a place where you can then arm yourself and prepare to journey back to your death location and retrieve anything you have lost. The world would have scattered ruins and dungeons, which could make for ideal shelters. However, these ruins would have spawners in them, meaning you'd have to clear them out before fortifying them.
Once you have found yourself in a position where you rarely die anymore, you then may focus on other goals.
So, mods that this sort of playstyle would PROBABLY require would be anything along the lines of a gravestone(block that spawns and stores items upon death) mod, a ruins or structures mod, a mob enhancement mod (Epic Siege for example), a weapons and armor mod(TiC for example), and perhaps, if any sort of map mod, Antique Atlas, due to its more realistic sort of minimap addition.
Would anyone like to partake in this and tell me how it goes?

(some of my) Favorite Mods:
Aether II: Genesis of the Void (no banners for it)
I often was trying to mod sth similar you are describing here.
As for structure spawning...
"Roguelike Dungeons" have some great rooms. Lower levels are hard to clear. Still you can secure a base on the surface and the first level underground.
"Generator Mods" Have underground cities with villager spawners. There are entrances on the overworld through stairs.
"Battletowers" would provide more structures, but be sure to disable destroying the tower after boss defeat.
"Dungeons" provide different dungeon buildings. One of my favourites is the barn which provides a huge yet simple building and is easily cleared. It also provides ships.
As for equipment, I like
"Unique Artifacts". This mod also spawns buildings and the artifacts found have quite unique abilities.
I think "Silent Gems" is a wonderful alternative to Tinkers Construct. I understood ur description more of a nomadic playstyle. As this I think TC doesnt fit too well (u need the tables and the smeltery). Crafting with Silent Gems is more independent. Yet u can have similar good tools.
And mob enhancement..
A well configured "Infernal Mobs" rly spices things up.
"Ender Zoo" I like, because it fits well into a vanilla-like game.
Then "Zombie Awareness" makes things harder. Would be careful in combining with other mods, as it becomes op pretty fast.
For me "Special Mobs" is a must have. Theres much more variance with it. Also mobs use armors etc.
Also "Special AI" could be sth to try out.
One thing I wasn't quite able to do:
Set a random respawn point after death. (preferable also after login?)
There was once a mod which had the option, however, it was a rather big survival mod.. And the newer version didnt have the option anymore.
