Hello there. I downloaded Foolcraft from the mods.curse website but I don't know how to install it and get it working. Is there a way to install it without the curse launcher and if not can you provide me a link to download the curse launcher and also provide some instructions? Thanks.

I dont use curse because it is laggy so Download MultiMC. (All links at the end)
So first download Curse launcher,
Install (You must have premium minecraft account)
Choose a modpack and download
go to that modpack profile
at top right corner there will be three dot button click it, then click open folder.
then you will see a folder with mods, configs, saves and etc.
You copy all of them (not like .curseclient, manifest, modpackinstance, perms.txt/modlist.html)
then you open MultiMC
right-click on empty space
create instance
name the instance
choose a version (IF THE MODPACK IS 1.10.2 OR ABOVE then you hve to do following because it wont load minecraft files)
if 1.10.2 :::
when you create an instance on far left there will be bar with play, edit instance etc.
click edit instance
then at left there are sections and at bottom there is install forge.
install latest forge for that version of minecraft
then click Minecraft == Version1.10.2 for example
then at left click Customize and then click Edit
it will bring up text document
search "minimumLauncherVersion": and delete whole line of that text.
then click save and close notepad
then click out of Settings
click on your instane and at left, click "instance folder"
then go to minecraft folder and paste what you copied from other Curse folder and there you go...
IF YOU WANT MORE SPACE ALOCATED IN THAT INSTANCE YOU DO THE FOLLOWING:
click instance settings
check memory tab and make sure the box is checked
and then edit Minimum memory alocated to 1024 MB and Maximum to half of your RAM (if you have 4 GB RAM then maximum should be 2048 MB)
then click out and done
Play and enjoy
ITS A LOT OF STEPS ISNT IT

Curse Launcher download - FROM HERE
RIP CURSE CLIENT ;-; ITS NOW TWITCH BUT I STILL HAVE CURSE ONE
MultiMC - FROM HERE
Just create a new minecraft instance, and set the game directory to the (.zip?) mod pack folder. It doesn't matter where you out the mod pack folder.
The only thing in a zip file from curseforge for a modpack is a manifest.json file and a few folders, mainly for configs. What you are suggesting will not work.
It's not hard to get the Twitch/Curse launcher and it's not laggy like Solarkoid suggests later on unless there is something wrong with your computer or internet.
It will take you to a download page on Twitch.tv with download options for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android. You will be choosing Windows or Mac as those are the platforms that play the Java version of Minecraft. The option for you system will be already selected on the download button which should now click.
Run the downloaded application to install the new Twitch Launcher (The launcher previously known as Curse)
If you have any problems install the "Twitch Launcher" see my post at https://www.reddit.com/r/Twitch/comments/65yi6n/_/dgry7od/ where I list the steps I took to remove old copy of curse that hung around no matter what and interfered with the setup.
Now that you have the launcher, it will not have the creeper icon in the left side and you will need that, so let's go an get it.
Click the sprocket in the lower left side.
Click on Minecraft on the left side
Now click on the switch to the right of "Mod Management"
That's right click that button to enable Twitch to manage install modpacks for you.
Now there is a creeper icon on the left side of the Twitch application click it and choose "Install"
Now we search for a pack to install, like the one the op had gotten.
Enter your query
Now put your mouse over the section that you are interested in installing.
In a few moments the pack will download and install and you can begin playing by yourself or with your friends.
To install other packs simply goto the "browse all packs" section each time and search for them, try searching my name to find a lot of packs from 1.8 to 1.11.2
Yes, it really works and it really pays its mod and modpack developers. So when you use any other launcher you are killing the majority of the packs and mods out there.

If you mean the issue in the last post (you should really have made a new thread in Support, not posted to a year old thread for a completely different thing in a completely different section), that is caused by using Java 9 or later, which causes issues with many mods since they use a buggy Mojang library (this is one reason why Mojang provides their own runtime, which should be used even if it is "outdated", which means nothing if the program was written for that version of Java. Many people also still try to use obsolete JVM arguments, like CMS incremental mode and PermSize):
(this is yet another reason not to use Forge for mods; even Java 8 causes Forge for 1.6.4 to crash but the game itself doesn't, same for my own mods, including manual installation of Optifine (the "launchwrapper" seems to be an API used to load mods at runtime instead of modifying the jar on disk, which Mojang highly disproves of based in their measures to stop it, like redownloading a clean jar unless you block the download (which is actually pretty easy), probably to prevent people from distributing modded jars, as I've seen people do before, instead of only distributing the modded files)
When i download a modpack, i create a new "instance" for minecraft, then manually put in all the server files and then the client files, since i always play single-player.
I havent encoutered any problems or bugs so far, but i dont know if this is a fail-safe methods or even the correct way.
Note that you also want to specify a custom game directory to avoid issues, including crashes and world corruption, caused by running different versions in the same directory or accidentally loading a world in the wrong version (you can just add a folder name to the end of the default path and it will automatically be created when you launch the game and it will have its own folders for mods and saves; this is also a good way to have multiple instances with separate mod packs).

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
I have Linux, there's no way for me to get the app. It would be a whole lot easier if there was a way to install this manually.
When i download a modpack, i create a new "instance" for minecraft, then manually put in all the server files and then the client files, since i always play single-player.
I havent encoutered any problems or bugs so far, but i dont know if this is a fail-safe methods or even the correct way.
But how do you do that?
If you are replying to the post prior to yours, you can find instructions here:
