When you open up your world on SkyFactory 2.5, you may be a bit confused. There are a few books and some odd food items in your inventory... What are you to do? This guide will tell you!
1. The first thing to do is take a quick skim through the books (not required, but it will help you understand some mods)
2. Next, you're going to want some saplings. Break the top layer of leaves. Hopefully, you get a sapling, but if not, don't worry. Now, break the logs, careful not to break the dirt. Make the logs into planks, then a crafting table. Put the crafting table in your inventory crafting slot to make a crafting station (this is like a crafting table but items stay in it if you exit the table in the middle of crafting). Now make 6 wood slabs, and build partially around the dirt block. Now, you need a crook. take 2 planks, make sticks, then put the sticks in a hoe pattern (top the 3 middle from top to bottom, then one in the top left or right. Now be careful not to fall, and break the rest of the leaves. If you don't get a sapling, you're out of luck :/. If you want, you can open the woorld to lan and turn on cheats, or make a new world.
3. Assuming you did get a sapling or two, move your crafting station and plant one. repeatedly sneak (deafult shift key) until the tree grows, then use your crook on the leaves and get the wood. Do this multiple times, until you have at least 9 saplings.
4. Make an oak barrel (all crafting recipies can be found with the search bar in your inventory. For example, type "barrel" and there will be a few different options. Left click on the one you want and it will show the recipie). Then, place the barrel and put 8 saplings in it (right click). It will say "composting X%". Once it is done, right click the barrel and you will get another piece of dirt. Use it to grow more than one tree at once.
5. Keep expanding your island until it is a decent size (I'd say about 20ish by 10 to 20ish is a good size for now). You can also make a compressed crook (its crafted like a crook but with pre-made crooks instead of sticks in the crafting station.)
6. Hopefully you have at least one silk worm by now, as you should have grown and crook'd quite a few trees. Grow 2 trees, and put a silk worm in one leaf block. It will say "Infesting X%" wait until the entire tree is done, which will take a few minutes. The leaves should all look white when its done. Use your crook and get some string. Hopefully, you will have at least 18. If not, do the same thing with another tree (or two!)
7. Once you have at least 18 string, make a sieve (use NEI search for all recipies). Hopefully you've been making some dirt every so often. Hold right click on the sieve with some dirt in your hand, and you should have some stones when its finished. Put 4 stones in a 2x2 pattern to make cobblestone. Repeat until you have about 10 cobblestone.
8. Make a slab furnace (Again, use NEI search). Now make a stone hammer (For the last time, NEI search). take the rest of your cobblestone and place it. Break it with your hammer to get gravel. Break that to get sand, and break that for dust. Put the dust through the seive. You aren't garunteed to get something every time you sieve an item, but hopefully you get some pretty interesting stuff.
9. Hopefully, you have seen some rain by now... If you did, you may have noticed a barrel filling with water. If not, make an oak crucible, place it over a torch, and put some saplings in it (I believe its 8 required)
10. Now, make some more dust. Put a block of dust in a barrel with water (or a crucible with water). Right click the barrel or crucible and you will get a clay block. Place the block and destroy it. Use 3 clay to make an Unfired Clay Bucket. Cook the bucket in a furnace and you will be able to pick up water or lava in it. (NOTE: if you pick up water in a fired clay bucket, the bucket will disappear once you place the lava!)
11. Make an infinite water source.
12. Now its time for a cobblestone generator. First we need porcelain clay, which requires bone meal. You can get bone meal from putting dust through a sieve, but it would be better to build a mob grinder and just get that out of the way, as you'll most likely need it later. (I am also making a mob grinder design tutorial, I will link it once I get around to making it)
13. Assuming you have at least 7 bone meal, you now need to make porcelain clay and then make it into a crucible. Put the Unfired Crucible into a furnace, then put the crucible over a torch. Keep putting cobblestone into the crucible until the solid and liquid volumes add up to at least 1000 mB.
14. Wait until there is at least 1000 mB of lava in the crucible, then right click it with a bucket. Now you can make a cobblestone generator. If you dont know how, here is a picture:link
Make sure there is an open block where the water can flow down into, as the picture shows.
This is the part where the guide is going to get a bit less detailed!! I hope you're ready!
15. Look into getting basic tinkers' construct items (stencil table, part builder, etc.) so you can make things like hatchets and pickaxes that level up with use. Here is a great guide for that:
16. Work on getting a transfer node, a world interaction upgrade, and transfer pipes to automate your cobble generator (Yeah, thats right. No more of that stupid mining!)
17. Sieve a lot of dust and gravel. Dust will get you many different ore powders and things like redstone, and gravel will give broken ore (i think that's what it's called...) both of which are good to get the iron needed for transfer nodes, world interaction upgrade, and transfer pipes.
18. A "Better Barrel" from the JABBA mod will be useful once you have the automation supplies. Once you have the 4 items, place transfer node on the piece of cobblestone that you normally break in the generator, then attach that to the better barrel with transfer pipes. Place the world interaction upgrade in one of the lower slots of the transfer node, and it should begin filling the barrel. You can left click the barrel to take out one stack of cobble, or right click it to put in however much cobble you are holding. (The barrel will hold up to 64 stacks)

| | | | I know I said I would go into less detail but thats important!!!
19. Hopefully you are familiar with the tinkers' construct tool design system, and now we are going to make a smeltry! Take out 3 stacks of cobble. use your hammer to make 3 stacks into gravel, then make 2 of those into sand, then 1 of those into dust. (you should have 1 of each) turn 16 dust blocks into clay. Now make 2 stacks of grout.
20. Now smelt the grout into seared bricks. You can now make a tinkers' construct smeltry! I suggest watching a video tutorial on making a smeltry, here is a good one:
21. These are the first 20 steps to take in SkyFactory 2.5! Good luck to you, and I hope you have found this helpful!
Feel free to give feedback or extra tips, as I'm sure I missed something important.
Hopefully I can get the mob grinder tutorial up by the end of next week! (November 11 at the latest!) If not, I will link a different tutorial.
Thanks! I'm actually about to get started on a mob grinder guide either tonight or tomorrow, and I'll also get into some more complicated stuff! I'm also fixing the cobble generator picture, for some reason it wasn't showing up...
a spider fell down and killed me and i lost everything and i have no cheats to spawn in a sapling ughhh
If you need to, you can hit Esc/escape and hit open to LAN, then turn cheats on.
Also, in my first world, the exact same happened to me. I was building something (Idk what) and a spider knocked me off of the platform i was on. I didn't know about the cheats, so I deleted it and started a new world. Hopefully you haven't done the same, good luck
