Any news on the light weight reboot of REV 1. If you can't give details that's cool. I'm looking forward to it.
A light weight reboot of Rev1? I am interested. Rev1 was my favorite pack, and I only don't play it anymore because it wasn't updated for the latest versions of Reika's mods.

Why "light weight" BTW?
Light weight because I wanted mere mortals to be able to play it. It's mostly accomplished by eliminating ore generation (you get ore by refining different raw stone materials) and removing the magic mods (CrC, Bot, and TC+ Addons)
Doing these two things reduced memory requirements to about 1.5 GB and dramatically increased FPS.

Remove CrC? Count me out then. Too bad. I guess I'll have to try updating Reika's mods in the old Rev1. That will stay online, right?
Or could you keep those mods (TC addons, CrC) but make them optional?
Hello, I am just starting to play this mod pack since it sounds really fun, but when I start, I don't start out with a quest book or anything like that. Is this an issue, or is it supposed to be that way?
Well, opposing the trend to light-weight Revolution, is there any chance to get the OpenPeripheral mod into Rev3 to have more integration between OpenComputers and the other mods?
1) It would possibly open up more automation due to OC having access on object inventories.
2) The OpenModsLib is in already as a base, which would ease integration (?)
Since I have the possibility now, I'd like to throw out a big thank you for the great pack! It's been with me since early Rev2 and that won't change in the future.
Glad you're enjoying the pack!
As far as OpenPeripherals is concerned, I recommend you add it manually to the pack. It should work just fine (it used to be in the pack, back in the old days). In my constant fight to avoid pack bloat, it was dropped some time ago since so few players use OpenComputers. But have at it -- it should be completely safe.

The quest book fell by the wayside when I started travelling heavily for work. I keep hoping someone will pick it up, but with the shrinking lifespan of 1.7.10, it's not likely. There's some excellent let's plays on youtube to guide you through the pack.

A detailed walkthrough of the error, its code path and all known details is as follows:

Please help, I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong when I use the sluice. I follow the guide exactly, but it just consumes my sand and does nothing. I am right in the middle of a poor joe patch.
first of all i want to say that I really enjoy the modpack, keep up the great work.
I love reikas mods so I started with chromaticraft. I know that the mods are sometimes a bit buggy and I has a few crashes with the blast furnace from rotarycraft, but that's not what's bothering me now. In chromaticraft I finally built some repeaters so I can craft those improved crystals. But I crash every time I start the casting process. Sometimes it crashes really quick, and sometimes it takes a while for it, but it always crashes.. I raplaced the casting table and even broke one of the repeaters, but it still did not work. Strange thing I noticed: I could start the casting even after I broke the repeater..
I read somewhere that this problem might be related to fastcraft, so I deactivated it to see if it would help, but it crashed that way too.
Here is my last crash report, I hope you can help me find a solution for my problem:
You might have better luck asking in Reika's thread -- but you may want to try breaking and replacing your casting table and verify you have nothing interfering with the temple's structure. I had a tree branch growing in the corner of mine and it caused a crash until I broke and replaced the table (and fixed the branch).

The sluices are very iffy in their performance. They are not required to progress and produce very low yields given the amount of work -- just find the ore and dig it out manually.

Bit late here, but I've spent awhile in the past messing with an outline for a R3 quest book, and now that I'm getting back into Minecraft, I'm going to give it a more thorough look. Caveat is that I'm not at all familiar with BQ quest creation - I've spent many hours writing/editing HQM quests in the past, but I'll have to relearn the interface.
No guarantees or anything, and I know talk is cheap - just wanted to say you shouldn't necessarily give up hope yet.

The learning curve for BQ is pretty quick, once you get into the editor. If there's anything I can do to help you, please let me know.
thanks Haggle for your awesome work. We've played the revolution pack for a long time with much fun.
Now we want to play your new Revolution 3 pack, that I installed on my home server. I pregenerated the world's and the server works well already.
But I need help with the java arguments, if they can optimize the server. I have no idea what's the best and in the past I took anything I found in the Web without to know if it's better or not.
Has anyone good tips for some Java Arguments for this Server:
Intel Xeon 1241v3 3,5Ghz 4C/8T
32Gb RAM (up to 24Gb for MC)
256Gb SSD Samsung Evo 850
Ubuntu 64bit
Newest Java 8
Max 6 Player
No other Programs are running, the Server is only for Minecraft.
Thanks and greetings.
Others may take issue, but I run multiple REV|3 instances just fine with minimal arguments, just memory... "java -Xms4096M -Xmx12288M -jar /opt/servers/letsplay/server.jar nogui"
But another thing are the logs from harder ores. I pregenerated the overworld with /pregenspawn 400. After that harder ores spams about nearly 7000 Chunks needs to be rescanned. The number of chunks goes up and down, up and down, but not really with any progression to the end. Is that something to care about or is that normal?
It's normal. I'm not happy with the amount of log spam, but it's not something to panic about.
v16 of Reika's mods released; look for update 3.2.0 this weekend.

Yeah, it's not as bad as I thought, now that I'm getting more into it. I still find it less convenient (and more crash-prone while editing) than HQM, but at least I can crank out quests at a decent speed now. Spent a couple hours on it today and got the first chapter done; I should be able to do future chapters more efficiently now that I have a better idea of what I'm doing.
The only thing I really don't understand is the loot-chest system. I've seen the wiki entry, but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me; it talks about rewards being tiered by "rarity", but the only reward tier attribute that I can (apparently) change is weight. Am I missing something? Can't find much about it online.
Also, as a sidenote - do you take suggestions/PRs for recipe changes? Not to sound presumptuous, but while the tweaks in this pack are great, there are a few things I feel could be improved upon a bit. Mostly late-game stuff. I can give a quick summary of the changes I was thinking of, or I can shut up if you'd rather not deal with it.

That's really great news on the quests. I haven't gotten into the tiered loot rewards in BQ, so you're probably more familiar with it. If it's related to the standard MC chest loot system, which I already tweak a lot, there may be something to mess with in the minetweaker scripts.
Once you have something you'd like to commit to the repository, I can add you to the github site and beta access for the pack, so you can see your changes directly integrated in the upcoming version.
I love suggestions. Please submit suggested recipe changes on the issue tracker!

Quick quest update: been busy for the past few days, but I should be able to knock out a few more chapters over the weekend. I currently have three chapters more-or-less done - one about getting started, one about early food/defense, and one covering most of the core RoC progression. None are uber-comprehensive (I try to avoid the overly hand-holding quest style of "have quests for every conceivable optional item/machine") but they should nonetheless serve as solid guidelines to follow for people inexperienced with some of the mods.
I'm probably going to do some test stuff on a private server with a few friends once I have the quest lines a bit more done, just to make sure I haven't made any awful mistakes anywhere, before committing anything.

Yes, the original REV|1 will stay available.
Try reinstalling the pack. Looks like you may have a corrupted config file.

Still not working.
