I believe a current version of HC actually has it where you have to go out of your way to look for gardens that'll have anywhere from one to three different kinds of a given crop (1 of such and such, 1 of such and such) and depending on the config, they could be quite hard to find, since only certain gardens spawn in certain biomes. With a bit of tinkering (such as a garden or two in a village chest or something), it could possibly work. With Spice of Life, you have to make different meals anyways, and mix that with difficulty finding certain crops, it could take a while for you to find enough of the crops to make the higher tiered food stuffs.
Didn't know about the foods getting upgraded as you went along, though. That's useful to know.
I wonder why the glacier is exempt from the spawning issues, then.
Oh, and large foods aren't even more filling overall than small ones once you get past the point where they're worth eating. A steak eaten three times gives 6 total hunger. Potatoes eaten 6 times gives 6 total hunger.
Really looking forward to playing this modpack, Talonos. Looks promising and well made!
Unfortunately, I've not been able to start playing for the past few hours. After starting the game from the Technic Launcher, the usual Mojang startup screen appears and loads, but the loading bar will always be stuck at the "Initialising" or "Reloading Resources" process, before it force exits and directs me back to the Technic Launcher. Been trying to troubleshoot this for the past few hours , but still find no solution.
Pardon me if this problem has already been attended to previously in this thread. Will greatly appreciate any help~

I haven't had any problems like that. Are you using 64-bit java, enough memory? Check in your logs folder, too. (Appdata/Roaming/.technic/modpacks/blightfall/logs)
Hi,so... i have a problem.I try to play the modpack,i open in loadscreen,it says ''initializing'',after reloading resources or something,and #Bum# ,game crash :/ and that's what i find in blightfall's folder

You're running out of memory. I didn't even know they /made/ Windows 8 in a 32-bit (The part where it says "Windows 8 (x86)"). You really, really, need 64-bit windows and Java to run about 90% of modpacks these days.
Im not sure if this has happened to anyone else but as soon as i click play minecraft starts up but then when its done initializing it crashes and closes itself
Yeah, it's a sad thing. Most of these look like memory related crashed, though I would be interested in seeing Hirano_U's crash log, just in case.
Cristixp1: Yes, you should use as much RAM as it'll let you if you are on a x32 machine. I think that's about 1.5 gig. Then it might work. I think the real problem might be the perm-gen size. Nowadays, the technic launcher forces you to use a perm-gen size of 128 mb if you are using less than 2 gigs ram, or 256 mb if you are using more than 2 gigs ram. I think my modpack takes about 192 mb permgen, so it should work on x32 machines if the launcher didn't hard-code the permgen size. :/ Anybody know how to manually increase permgen on low-end machines in the technic launcher?
You might try installing fastcraft. Due to his... possesive ToS, I can't put it in the modpack by default, but I hear it contains many helpful performance enhancements. If any of these are memory related, it might also solve the problem. If it relies heavily on caching, however, it might just make it worse...
bobitybob123: Please post your crashlog either in spoilers or a pastebin dump. Also let me know if you are using a mac. Then I'll see if it's anything I can help with.
About spawning: We have no idea why, but we suspect it's due to the number of hostile (formerly passive) mobs, as Namarox says. Unlike normal mobs, which despawn if you get too far away, these tainted mobs do not, meaning the chunk practically needs to be unloaded before they stop counting against the spawn cap. That's why the glacier is a good area: It's near the edge of the map, which means no mobs will be in that direction. It's near the frozen ocean biome (which also has little taint or hostile mobs due to how low the sea floor is) and it's not got a lot of wood to turn into swarmers. I think the post is legit (Xillith first found naturally spawning hostile mobs in the glacier as well, but he's a dev, so he didn't count for the contest. )
97% of teenagers would cry if they saw Justin Bieber on top of a tower about to jump. If your the 3% who is sitting there with popcorn screaming "DO A BACKFLIP", copy and paste this as your signature.
You don't; you find it in the world. It's in the swamp, in rivers, and at the bottom of oceans. That's one of the reasons why the swamp quest is the first scouting quest you can complete; you pretty much need to go there to get a smeltery.
I don't think it is. I went there and I saw some skeletons but once they were dead they stopped spawning. Your screenshot showed no taint in that mine tunnel. Did you clear it out and darken it? Do zombies still spawn?
The same thing happened to me the first time I went there, then the second time they were back again. That particular spot of the mine tunnel is under where the bloom was (maybe still is, I forget if I collected that one), that's why it's clear. I think I even saw a pech on my radar for a moment, under the silverwood tree.
But can i do something,my launcher recommends to use 1G ram,but i have 3G ram,can i alocatte more then recommended?
In 32-bit, I believe Technic will only allow you to use max 1G. Max Java can even address is 1.5 under 32-bit. Why are you running a 32-bit system? Is it an older system that you or someone you know has upgraded? I built a desktop in 2009 with 64-bit capability.
To be honest, if your processor supports it (it probably does, but check first), I'd suggest backing up all your personal files and reinstalling Windows 8 with a 64-bit version. It uses the same product key as long as it's the same version (Home versus Pro).
Did anyone find their Silverwood tree under the glacier about to be overwhelmed with taint? I don't know if it was just me looking too long for the entrance (it IS rather inconspicious) or not, but the blooms were broken for some reason. I saved what I could and ran away soon afterwards.
Also: If anyone want to play around with Thaumcraft Foci, dont forget to change the Controls: Betterstorage is conflicting with Thaumcraft over the Letter F, unless you put Betterstorage somewhere else you wont manage to use your foci properly. I nearly threw the stuff/staff away in frustration!
EDIT: Found something about a "Purity Focus". WHat exactly is this "Enlarge Enchantment"? I can't seem to find it anywhere in the Thaumonomicon (Created a new world and used the cheat verion to browse the contents).
97% of teenagers would cry if they saw Justin Bieber on top of a tower about to jump. If your the 3% who is sitting there with popcorn screaming "DO A BACKFLIP", copy and paste this as your signature.
Namorax: I could probably make it so better storage's F key is rebound by default, but if I do that, it'll cobber everybody else's keybindings whenever they update their Blightfall version because it will overwrite them with the new version's keybindings. Think it's worth it?
Tayoko: The computer I bought in 2011 was x86. I only retired it about 4 months ago. College students take what they can get sometimes. It all depends on where you choose to spend your money. Though I'm not sure I can specifically cater to x86 folks, I totally understand where they are coming from. Again, if you find some way to up Java to 1.5 gig (the max allowed by x86 java) with 192 mb permgen, that should be sufficient to run blightfall at lowest settings.
Mod changes:
- Upgraded ModTweaker 0.6-0 -> 0.7.1
- Upgraded Requisition Credit 0.45 -> 0.46:
- Cut console spam when Dawn Totem spawns particles
- Dawn totems drop themselves when you break them.
- Fixed silverwood potion crafting recipe. Sorry about that.
- Silverwood potions now destroy tainted blocks. Text in research page changed to reflect that.
- Dawn totem changed to a complicated infusion recipe.
World Changes (Will not affect previous saves unless you use the new world file):
- Decreased max size of iron veins by 1, but increased the number of iron veins by 20%. I think this will cause the same amount of iron to appear, but should make it slightly easier to find.
- Decreased the max size of copper and tin veins by 40%, but doubled their frequency. This should make them about twice as easy to find, but you'll get less on average when you do find them. It's still a net increase to the amount of copper in the world.
- There are now only two manganese veins per chunk instead of five, but the height levels have capped to between 35 and 50. This means it should be waay easier to find. (Previously, the five veins could be found anywhere from 7 to 128, meaning half of them probably wouldn't even be generated.)
- Floaty bits of pillars biome now float because glowstone. Also nodes on top!
- Obsidian tower now much easier to climb due to conviniently placed glowstone showing where the stairs are. All other light sources removed, increasing creepiness by 15%.
- Tier 3 Dark One altar glowstone corners un-pre-broken. Troll beacons left unchanged.
- Research notes hidden in hidey-hole renamed to "Illegible Research Notes"
- +2 rainbow broadsword of instant crashing previously hidden in glacier removed and replaced with suitably epic replacement.
Quest Changes:
- Iron tools quest now repeatable.
- Satchels, tanks, and energy cells in the Engineer questline changed to NBT insensitive variants.
- You can meet Team Omega from either the snow scout location or the pillars now.
- Added three ME related quests (one of which gives you presses)
- Wording clarified in "Mass Stone Sample" quest.
- Floating Island 3 quest now fixed.
- Updated Enderium quest text to reflect Tinker's Construct's recent OreDicting of resonant ender. No magma crucible needed!
Recipe Changes:
- Added Blood Magic recipe for Greatwood
- Added Blood Magic recipe for Shimmerleaves
- Fixed Blood Magic recipe for Ethereal Blooms
- Added Blood Magic recipe for Necrotic Bone
- Added research and Infusion recipe for Wither Skeleton Skulls
- Added research and Infusion recipe for Silverwood Saplings
- Deleted recipe for Blood Altar.
- Deleted recipe for Dagger of Sacrifice.
- Deleted recipe for Sacrificial Knife.
EDIT: Hotfix - There was a 13 x 13 chunk area that somehow avoided getting tainted, near the west side of the map. If you downloaded in the last 6 hours... enjoy? I guess? If you downloaded more recently than midnight between Feb 25 and Feb 26, and you see it, let me know.
Hard to tell... I think its better to rebind since people will be confused why they cant use the foci they want with their wands (rather infuriating if you finally get that Purification Focus).
Better Storage assign something about Drinking to that Key, doesn't it?
It's better to shoot everyone's keyconfig once, rather than having to point out again and again that they need to change the keyconfig to get access to Thaumcrafts Foci-Wheel. Telling the players they need to update their keybindings in the next update shouldn't be that much of an unreasonable request.
Just my opinion of course... I'm just curious why I seem to be the only one who was stumped by this little problme xD

Maybe the Tainted (Passive) Mobs fill up this counter too quickly for any normal hostile mobs to spawn.
I haven't had any problems like that. Are you using 64-bit java, enough memory? Check in your logs folder, too. (Appdata/Roaming/.technic/modpacks/blightfall/logs)

I think the post is legit (Xillith first found naturally spawning hostile mobs in the glacier as well, but he's a dev, so he didn't count for the contest. )
The same thing happened to me the first time I went there, then the second time they were back again. That particular spot of the mine tunnel is under where the bloom was (maybe still is, I forget if I collected that one), that's why it's clear. I think I even saw a pech on my radar for a moment, under the silverwood tree.
- Upgraded ModTweaker 0.6-0 -> 0.7.1
- Upgraded Requisition Credit 0.45 -> 0.46:
