Ascension is a 1.6.4 mod pack focused around exploration and progression. It is designed to play like vanilla survival, but with more ores to mine, mobs to encounter, structures to explore, bosses to battle, and treasures to find.
-Over 20 Different Materials; progress though several tiers of gear with the higher tiers surpassing diamond items.
-Over 100 New Mobs; from goblins to mythical creatures to lava monsters, there are many new foes to encounter.
-Enhanced World Gen; explore several new biomes and many structures like battle towers, floating islands, and more.
-New and Revamped Dimensions; the Nether and The End offer more challenges and there is the new Erebus to explore.
-Over 15 New Enchantments with revised Enchanting System; use items to hone in on certain enchants.
-Level Systems; use your experience to level various stats or unlock powerful magic spells.
-8 Powerful Bosses; each rebalanced to require good enchants and potions just to stand a chance.
-12 Strong Mini-Bosses; while weaker than bosses they still require decent gear and tactics to overcome.
-Rebalanced Chest Loot; chest loot is aimed to be more rewarding, with some loot being exclusive to certain chests.
-Unique Loot Chest System; all hostile mobs have a chance to drop one of 3 tiers of chests full of various loot.
-Over 40 Custom Items; these items can be found in Loot Chests and offer buffs and stats unobtainable by crafting.
And much more such as various teleporters, redstone improvements, new potions, leveling pets, stronger beacon, and other useful features.
Bosscraft 2 is a mod that I planned to include in the mod pack, and is still used in my Let's Play of Ascension, but I wasn't able to get permission to include it in the public download. For anyone who still wants to experience these epic bosses, I have some links below.
Bosscraft 2 Mod by Sthullen- Click
Just download the mod through the mod page and put in the mod folder and it should work fine. However, this will be without the rebalance and special drops I made for them, which can be obtained with the link below.
Bosscraft 2 Mob Properties Configs- Click
This download contains my custom configs for Bosscraft 2, using Mob Properties. They will only work if the Bosscraft 2 mod is present (and will crash the game otherwise). To add them to the mod pack, go to the Config folder and then into the "MobProperties" folder and paste them here. If you have any trouble, feel free to ask for help.

Will this pack be added to a launcher?
Originally, I did plan to get the pack on a launcher. But I have since decided to stop working on 1.6 packs and focus solely on 1.7. So Ascension won't see a launcher release. Will this pack be updated to 1.7?
Simple answer, no. But I am working on other 1.7 mod packs.
Originally, I did plan to make a successor to this pack for 1.7 called Transcendence. However, I have since decided against that because I want to try new things in 1.7 and work on packs with different themes. If I were to remake Ascension in 1.7, I would have to be completely rebuild and I felt not enough changed between 1.6 and 1.7 for it to be worth it. I still do plan to make Transcendence later on, probably once 1.8 mod packs become a thing.
-While generation new chunks the game may lag. If you are loading chunks too quickly, such as creative flight, it may even crash. It is suggested to assign 1-2gb of ram and try not to load chunks quicker than needed.
-The Nether Doomlike Dungeon is known to cause extreme lag. If you start lagging while in or around one, it is suggested that you restart your minecraft as this tends to help.
-Loot Chests break when they land. This is because the chests have the properties of sand and break on things like torches, slabs, or flowers. They will sometimes break if they land between two blocks as well. There is not much to be done about this besides trying to battle mobs, especially bosses, in clear flat areas.
Awesome Modpack! But I can't find any Pigmen or Ghasts in the Nether :/ Is this a bug?
Thanks, glad you are enjoying the pack. I have no idea what could cause that issue, but it seems it resolved itself so maybe just weird spawning luck. Still, I will keep an eye out when testing to see if I notice any issues.
Hey, quick update. Just wanted to mention that I am still working on the mod pack; in fact there have been a few updates to the pack since Beta v1.0, I just never got around to making a new download. But if all goes well, I should have all those updates plus a bunch of others out with the full release of the mod pack next week.
Most of the planned updates will be in the release, including the mini-boss loot chests, nether health rebalance, grimoire heralds, bonus loot chests, and chaos potions. I've decided against adding the custom mob variants, day based buffs, and custom bosses so I could get the full release done quicker. After the full release is out, I don't have any more plans to update the pack, besides for bug fixes if any are found. While there are more features I'd like to add, I'd rather spend the time working on some 1.7 mod packs I've been planning.
Anyway, the full release should be out next week with all the main features planned. After that, I will look into getting the pack on a launcher to make it easier to install, but still plan to keep the download here as well. Then I will start working on 1.7 mod packs, some of which you may see about sooner than later. And to anyone who has been waiting on the next update, sorry for the long delay.
Nice 1.6 mod pack . I discontinued my 1.6 mod pack. Too much work to keep it and my 1.7 mod pack updated. I really am enjoying a instance with this pack though.
Thanks, glad you are enjoying it. That is more or less my plan as well: finish the main features in Ascension, then move into 1.7 packs. A lot of the features I didn't get around to in Ascension will probably find its way into my 1.7 packs; in fact, the time scaling is the entire premise of one pack XD But besides that, all the mods seem stable so once I finish the last config updates I don't foresee any necessary updates in the future.
Small update, I just got done testing the last of the custom item drops for the loot chests. Later today/tomorrow I should be able to finish adding loot chests to all the planned mobs, which is pretty much the only thing I have left to do. So it is looking like I should be able to have a final release of the pack out around Monday or so. I may even have enough time to add in a few bonus features I was going to skip.
And the mod pack update is out! To see what has changed, check the changelog. The main post has been revised as well with updated links and a better pack summary. If anyone has issues with the new downloads or update, let me know and I will look into them.
Also, I am working on more documentation for the pack which will hopefully be out later this week. The Survival Guide will cover how to play the pack like what gears to get, what dangers to watch out for, and such. The Cheat Sheet will cover a lot of the hidden info you wouldn't normally know from ingame, but is present in the config, like the loot tables for chests, what items boost what enchants, and such. Until those are out, feel free to ask if you need detail about something in the pack.
Anyway, hopefully everyone likes the update. I am really happy with how it turned out. I will work on getting the rest of the documentation done soon. And after that I do want to look into getting the pack on a launcher.
Sorry for the delay; busy week. Anyway, I got around to making the Cheat Sheet and added a link to that in the main post. This document has info on stuff like what to burn in the censor to get that enchantment you wanted, what loot is in that chest, and the stats of those special drops.
Also, I added the Bosscraft 2 Add-on to the download section. Bosscraft 2 was planned for the pack but I couldn't get permissions to include it. However, if you wanted to go download it yourself, you can do that. I even provided my Mob Properties configs for the mobs so they will be balance to the pack, with their unique drops as well.
Sorry it has taken me so long to post this, but I have decided to wrap up my work on Ascension. There is more I wish I had done for it, like some more features with Mob Properties and the Survival Guide, but these have been so low on my list I've been putting them off for months. So I decided to just leave the pack as is. There are a few more issues I am aware of, like the Ender Demon battle being inaccessible and the bugged Enchanted Book drops, but I am not sure how I could fix these.
Anyway, hopefully everyone can still enjoy the mod pack as it is. And while I am not making a sequel to Ascension yet, I am working on 3 Mod Packs for 1.7 at the moment. I don't expect any to have forum threads until at least 2015 though, but I may post back here to announce when their threads are up.
