By default, Name Pain gradually turns player & mob nameplates red as they lose health.

With Forge's update to 1.15.2-31.1.30 earlier today, Name Pain 1.15.2 became practical and is now released with the NP 1.1 update: support for named mobs.
A workaround to Forge's event limitation was found in MC 1.7, so Name Pain 1.7.10 is now released with the NP 1.2.0 update: support for your character and improved color transitions.
The port to Fabric is done now with NP 1.2 features, available here.
Note: In order to show both Forge and Fabric releases in the Recent Files section of the CurseForge page, Fabric releases are listed as Beta releases. Going forward, only Alpha represents unfinished or untested releases.
Name Pain now supports MC 1.16.x and the NP 1.3 update is out: See the names of your tamed mobs without looking directly at them, to help you keep an eye on them.
This update brings better support for handling team colors, a couple new options for hiding/showing nameplates (depending on your version of MC), and a few fixes.
Note: There are separate versions for 1.16 - 1.16.1 and 1.16.2+.
Name Pain supports MC 1.17.x and the NP 1.4 update is out: See the names of villagers and damaged enemies without looking directly at them.
This update also improves compatibility with other mods, introduces a new slider config to limit how far names are rendered, and finally supports in-game configs in Forge MC 1.14+.
Name Pain now supports MC 1.20.x and the NP 1.5 update is out: See the names of iron golems and toggle player name coloring, effectively making it possible to disable the mod in-game. This update also improves compatibility with other mods in Forge 1.15+ and Fabric 1.14+.
