Is there a way to disable them from being generated? I've already found 6, four in the Overworld, 1 in the Aether, and 1 in the Betweenlands (Betweenlands Mod). This is a map I started today.

I agree wholeheartedly with AvRand.... I love your mod but the cathedral is spawning way to often. In my latest world I can stand on the top of one and see another IN a village to the north and one to the east.... so that's three cathedrals all within loaded chucks... each with a swarm of gargoyles above them...
I would be nice to have a config to do any or all of the following. At minimum It would be nice to have A) and E) They would be the easiest to implement and be the most universal it addressing user issues. The Gargoyles are the Major Allure of the mod NOT the cathedral's (Even if they are AWESOME).
A) Disable cathedrals from spawning
Set a weight value for Cathedrals
C) Set a Whitelist for Biomes Cathedrals can spawn in.
D) Set a Blacklist for Biomes Cathedrals CANNOT spawn in.
and
E) Set Dimensions allowed for Cathedrals to spawn.
Please, can we get a config to lower the spawnrate of cathedrals, and perhaps an option to either lower or raise the health/attack power of hostile gargoyles?
So I have Reverse engineered the code for Gargoyles and made the following adjustments :
EDIT:
1> Changes to the structure code to make the cathedrals spawn ALLOT less then they do by default.
2> Limited the number of Gargoyle Perches that are found on the Cathedral. Thus lowing the HOARD of Evil Gargoyles that spawn at each Cathedral.
3>Changed the default HP of all Gargoyles scaling them down ALLOT
I am currently adding a config system to do the following.
1> change the default spawn range of cathedrals
2> add biomes to be toggled on/off for Cathedral Generation.
3> add Gargoyles HP values to be altered by the user up or down.
4> disable cathedral generation completely.
It's really a lot of simple change to the Random Number in the WorldGen and removing a couple of lines to lower the number of perches.
Still testing as I had to rebuild and repair the de-compiled and de-obfuscated the Source code.
have a small issue with the drops... I think I will also recode that method and add it into the config as well...
So.... AndrDneehtfoerusaert IF you are adamant about NOT making the adjustments to cathedrals and/or NOT adding Config's.... I am asking if I can post the "Adjusted File" in the thread for those that want it.
For me personally I just did not want to go without the mod, but with my custom modpack the cathedrals and gargoyles were not "in balance" and the cathedrals over spawning with all those evil gargoyles causes HUGE lag.

For now (and the future if no changes can be made to Gargoyles itself) If you would like to disable the cathedrals you can use this mod.

Yep... and it really is a shame, because there is a good mod under these problems. the gargoyles are wonderfully well done and a great idea... but...
