This is a cosmetic addition used for most of the candles and for the Deco Crafting Kit.
Combine iron ingots with coal and you will get a cast iron ingot.
You can turn cast iron ingots back into iron ingots by smelting them in a furnace.
Deco Crafting Kit
You need a Deco Crafting Kit to make the lamp posts, floor stands, pedestals, ropes, and chains.
This is to avoid recipe conflicts. You only need one kit, it will not get used when you craft with it.
Lamp Posts
Material Options: Stone, iron, cast iron, gold, wood planks
There are two types of lamp posts, the center lamp post and the edge lamp post.
Why are there two kinds of lamp posts? Because you can place candles on the top of the center posts, or the sides of the edge posts.
Ropes and Chains
Material Options: String, vines, iron nugget, gold nugget, glass pane
May be used to suspend candles from a ceiling.
Must be hung from a block. If no block is above it, it will break.
Long versions of ropes and chains can be crafted, which extend down for you.
Floor Stands
Material Options: Stone, iron, cast iron, gold, wood logs
Simple decorative stands to place candles on.
Villager Candlemaker
A new villager type called the Candlemaker will sell candles and buy candle-making supplies.
Candlemaker villagers can have different skill levels, and each offers a different set of candles for sale. They will spawn in a special candlemaker shop building in villages.

yes thank you much. Question/suggestion/request:
Can you make something completely unrelated to candles completely? That being a desk, bookshelves, and podiums? It'd be super fun to have a book shelf that you can fill with books and watch the texture change as you fill it (kinda like Bibliocrafts, but for 1.10.2 :D), the desk would probably be another similar thing, but could have lots of pretty candles on it :3 and the podium would, also, be for books, but could be nice decorations for church type builds that also have books on it

I'm working on a furniture type decoration mod, but it may be a while before it's ready. I'll keep your suggestions in mind and see what I can do.
Thanks! And yes, it is texture pack compatible for all vanilla textures like stone, wood, etc. The candles, cast iron, ropes, chains, and items like tallow and wax have custom textures, though, so they wouldn't be in a texture pack.
Also, the new version is out which now has compatibility with Pam's HarvestCraft pressed wax in recipes, along with some other changes.
I think it's really cool that someone made a video about the mod. Awesome! I love that you made a candle shop building for the villagers, too. Great video, thanks for posting it.
I really like this mod. Suddenly I have so much choice for lighting styles! There's almost too many options! Can't believe there's even a zombie candle... the stench from burning that one must be appalling.
I'm glad you like it. I know there are a lot of options, and if there's too many, feel free to remove any that you're unlikely to use in the config file. I've gotten so used to them by now, I kind of forgot the choices might be a little overwhelming.
Think I may have found an error. JEI displays recipes for lamp posts and edge lamp posts depending on the placement of the deco kit, but when I do it ingame both combinations make the regular lamp post--so I can't craft the edge one. Did that make sense?
Working on a chandler's shop right now in my SSP world so I can have a big window display for your gorgeous candle models Having an edge lamp post or two in there would be nice!
Thank you for telling me. It's been fixed with different recipes in the newest version 1.3.
Hope I can see your chandler's shop when you're done.
It seems you may have a problem with your Villager's trades that causes a crash when they are killed. I don't know the exact details, I just helped find it.
The problem is somewhere in your use of func_175554_cu, which is used for randomizing villager trading recipes I believe.
java.util.Random.nextInt is returning 0, when it needs to be at least 1, so is throwing a "java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: bound must be positive" error when the villager is killed, causing a world crash.
This is the actual error thrown http://pastebin.com/uJa6BVcL I checked the villager being killed in NBTEdit and it was one of your guys.

I'm having trouble replicating this. I've tried killing lots of villagers and having zombies kill lots of villagers, but it hasn't caused a crash.
I'm not using func_175554_cu and I can't find where that function would be. All trades have a minimum value of 1. Has this crash only happened with my villagers?
As far as I know this only happened with your villager being killed by a zombie, he couldn't even start the server up again as the villager's death was never completed, so as soon as the server started he would just attempt to kill it again. It hasn't happened again since being removed, and I don't believe happened with other villagers being killed.
They were using other mods, this is the full crash report with the list http://pastebin.com/PhJ4UXv5 They did pass the save on to me to look at, I will ask them if I can pass that on to you. I will also check out the zombie involved in the crash and see if there is anything odd/special about him that may be causing it.
**edit**
Doesn't seem to be anything special about the zombie, other than he was using an iron shovel to attack.
I really love the candles, they are so pretty. I would also love to see some kind of furniture mod by you. If it's anything like the candles, it's going to look really amazing. Thanks for a great decorative mod.

There's probably some sort of conflict with one of those mods. When I have time, I'll try to replicate this setup and see if I can figure out what caused it.

Also, the new version 1.4 is released. It includes a fix for ropes and chains with servers, as well as some new mob candles: Skull Candle, Creeper Candle, Creeper Head Candle, Zombie Head Candle, and Enderman Head Candle.
Question about the candle maker villagers. Are these supposed to spawn in the villages or are they just for our own created village?
Still no Candlemaker villagers, either in my area or in other villages. I wish someone would let me know if they are supposed to spawn in the home area or not.
This mod is VERY cool - I literally searched through almost every mod on this site looking for a way to add additional lamp/light sources (after having seen the Conquest lamps) and I finally came across yours and just loaded it up and it is beyond what I expected. It is, as someone else said below, wonderful. The way the different candles connect to the sides of blocks was totally unexpected and awesome. Thank you for making it! (If you ever create a lamp mod, lol, I will be the first to download that, too!)
Love the mod so far. But, I do have one request/problem. Can you enabled or use ore dictionary dyes? Right now I'm trying to make some lime candles and it only recognizes the vanilla lime dye even though I have about 4 other lime dyes in my custom packs.
Also I have second request, some type(s) of candles that are made to hang from the ceiling and reside in the only the upper half of the block space.

yes thank you much.
Not currently, but I'll add compatibility with Pam's HarvestCraft wax for the recipes in the next update.
looking forward to he development of this mod I absolutely love love LOVE Decorative mods.
Does your mod tie into the default block textures? IE: texturepack compatible?
If you ever need idea's for things to add, don't hesitate to ask :3

Haha yeah, make zombie candles at your own risk.
Thank you for telling me. It's been fixed with different recipes in the newest version 1.3.
Hope I can see your chandler's shop when you're done.

It is, as someone else said below, wonderful. The way the different candles connect to the sides of blocks was totally unexpected and awesome. Thank you for making it! (If you ever create a lamp mod, lol, I will be the first to download that, too!)
Hi. Can I include this in my modpack?

Love the mod so far. But, I do have one request/problem. Can you enabled or use ore dictionary dyes? Right now I'm trying to make some lime candles and it only recognizes the vanilla lime dye even though I have about 4 other lime dyes in my custom packs.
Also I have second request, some type(s) of candles that are made to hang from the ceiling and reside in the only the upper half of the block space.
Is this mod active developed / supported?
The mod has been updated to 1.12! Lots of fixes and changes, plus two new candles - the stained glass lantern and the colored paper lantern.
